When changing the 500mA aux fuse on my panel I disconnected the mains power and battery but when I pull the fuse the bell box still goes off on its battery. How do I stop the bell box going off when working on this panel as I have particularly grumpy neighbours.

  2. So I forgot the password for logging into my the online account for my mobile number (I wanted to check credit) and I did "forgot password" which unfortunately sends a validation code to my SIM which is in the GSM unit. So I'm going to have to take it out and put it into a handset to get the code to change the password online. Really frustrating. When I installed the GSM unit after installing my alarm, I think I put the SIM in before I powered the GSM unit up or even the alarm board. Question is can I just pull the SIM out now with the GSM unit powered up or could it cause damage? Is it sufficient to just disable the GSM board from the engineer's menu? (9222 Disable GSM)

Hi All, DIY'er here - no alarm experience at all - but developer background and setup, wired and configured HIK IP CCTV system over 18 months ago. I currently have a Texecom Veritas (excel - I believe) alarm with a Texecom pstn dialler. I'm getting rid of my landline and have recently switched to fibre - what options do I have in terms of a GSM dialler (was looking at a pyronix V2) or is there a VOIP option I should consider? I'd prefer to leave the current alarm unit and just change the dialler - if I could - any advice would be great, even if it's only an avenue to investigate. Was considering sourcing a 2nd hand Pyro…

Hi, I have a 15 year old ADE Karizma Plus alarm system which I installed myself with 22 iD biscuits and 3 RKPs. The system is becoming temperamental and I think it is time for a replacement - lots of *SYSTEM BUSY!* and MAINS FAILURE messages. Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement that will work with the existing iD sensors without replacing all the cable etc? I'm thinking of Texecom Premier Elite with a 60iXD module but am open to alternatives. Thanks

Is there any way to reset the panel to factory default if the installer code is not known

  9. Started by Dklemm,

I've installed a Galaxy Flex20 (in my home) with Ethernet module both are setup and working ok as an alarm. I've configured an AUX receiver to Ethernet, I'm not using ARC becuase from what I understand the panel needs a restart if it faults, but the AUX receiver can recover from the fault without a restart. Now I'm trying to develop a TCP-IP ARC receiver for the SIA protocol. I've got simple server running and can read the 1st message ("D#1000", 1000 is the account number) but I can't ACK the data so the next message isn't received. I've used a number of resources open source projects to help me learn the messaging protocol but can't find and info in ACK'…

  10. Not sure if it's the right place We moved into our house 2 years ago. It has an old active alarm system which we have never used (lights on main box alight as well as those on the room sensors). We are renovating the house and will be needing to remove the system. From yesterday it starts to beep Intermittently every 30 seconds. it's optima 2 plus alarm I found the engineer code and had looked at the manual after hours' effort resetting it still couldn't silent the beep. It doesn't quite mention such case and how-to in the manual. Can anyone adivse thanks!

Hi, I am looking to upgrade the control box, keypad and PIRs but still using the existing 6 core cable. What would you recommend as a replacement for GARDTEC system? Looking for bells only in the first instance but would be interested in option for an auto dialler or smart systems that used wires and wireless, if possible. Thanks for your help in advance. KG

  12. Hi, So I've successfully paired this keyfob so that I can set and unset the alarm, however the panic alarm just sends an SOS to the ARC and I want it to sound the siren. I cannot find anything in the docs on how to do this, so if someone could advise it would be very much appreciated. thanks in advance

Hi, I fitted an Abacus alarm in my home many years ago (DIYer) and have maintained it since, my problem now is the LCD keypad buttons make poor contact and I opened the cover causing (Keypad Tamper Trbl) My question is if I fit a new keypad are my codes saved in the old keypad or the main alarm box or will the new keypad revert to the original default codes. Many Thanks, Peter.

Hello (and Merry Christmas/Happy New Year etc...)! I've recently moved into a home with an integrated garage. There's a Scantronic 9450 currently installed (with questionable implementation of security for the front door); however I'm wanting to get the integrated (powered) garage door wired into the alarm. Just looking for the art of the possible & suggestions of kit. Essentially I'd like to be able to activate/disarm the house alarm when using the garage, preferably without having to have a remote keypad (whether it's remote on the door opener/rfid tag etc), so I can drive in/out without having to mess round with getting in and out of the car…

The door chime has stopped working, checked the alarm system and it is activated, how do I check the sensors ?
