  1. Hi - I have a Texecom premiere elite 24W Ricochet kit which I installed back in 2013 and during a recent power cut the panel reported failed battery for the external sounder. I must admit its been on my list for a while but I've never got round to it due to other jobs. Anyhow there are 2 sounders connected, a Premiere Odyssey 5E and a Premiere Odyssey 3. Looking at the manual and I recall during install I was required to connect the wires to the units first then to the control panel second, the sounders being initially powered from the control panel and I seem to recall a jumper inside the sounder used to connect the sounder's own battery before closing the lid…

  2. I moved house and it has an old "ADE Optima Compact" burglar alarm (Not the newer revised versions "G3"/"G4", I assume the one I have is the original). I am unable to find anybody online with the exact same model. If there is a powercut, the alarm is completely deactivated. However, once the power returns the alarm sounds. If I enter my user code, it disables the alarm and goes back to normal. As I understand it, this means that the battery is dead. I don't know much about burglar alarms, but from what I saw online about similar models, it should be as simple as unplugging one battery and replacing it with another…

  3. HI all, my first post here so please be gentle with me. So that you can pitch any advice at the right level, I'm a retired electrical engineer. I have an old alarm that we inherited when we moved into this house 20 years ago - the box is marked ADE OPTIMA COMPACT - see attached pics (I've managed to find instruction and installer manuals for it online). Quite a while ago a couple of the PIR sensors started going off for no apparent reason so for years I've just been omitting the zones when I set it, but I've finally decided to try replacing them. Started by googling to see if I could find something that looked like the ones I have, but they seem a…

Hi, I want to install 2 fixed PA buttons for the Pyronix Enforcer. Are there any wireless options (other than using fobs)? From what I can see, the only solution is to hardwire in the PA buttons (cheap as chips but a pain in the ass). I've got the V10 panel. Thanks Rob.

Hello. I recently moved house and it has one of these systems. It had a Tesco mobile SIM and I couldnt get the system to send SMS messages, but then figured the contract had probably ended. I tried putting my own Smarty SIM in from my mobile and that didnt work either. Could it be because only certain SIM cards will work in an alarm system? I dot want to take out a contract etc if it turns out their is a problem with the system. Thank you

Hi - I have a Texecom Ricochet Elite 24 panel (Version 2.04) and using it with a mixture of hard wired and wireless Premier Elite XT-W/QD-W sensors and have been very happy with this kit. I bought and installed this in 2013. I was after this type of alarm to save wiring and to have a remote fob to arm/disarm from outside. Today I believe I can add network access but I believe it needs a firmware update and extra hardware that might no longer be manufactured - I have to google it. Just looking today as for the first time I had a wireless sensor fault. Pulling the battery and relearning fixed it but it did prompt me to google Texecom for …

LCD keypad shows nothing about tamper faults? any help appreciated R

  8. Whilst it is somewhat to be expected with the US being the source of much new technology that the US therefore would get access to newer/smarter products - specifically in this case security products before the UK/EU the sad reality is that even taking this in to account the UK/EU market is or has been woeful in comparison. This even applies when supposedly the same brand operates in both the US and the UK/EU e.g. Honeywell/Resideo and ADT. To some extent this difference is down to the UK insurance, security and alarm makers focussing totally on security and I am willing to accept being as a result better in this aspect than US products but they have in the UK…

  9. Hi all I've just been trying to demo out my predominately wireless ION-40H system. The only part which is wired, is the sounder. Most of the connections have a direct label in the control panel, however, i'm getting confused over the ENG input which appears on my siren. The manual says, output of type "installer on Site". However, i cannot locate a relevant connection on my control panel I've attached manual screenshots of both the bell inputs and my control panel diagram. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you

  10. Hi All, I have a 9800 system where, I think, the backup battery died. This was about 10 months ago and came to light after a 5 hour power cut to the house, during which the system reset to default codes. The system has been sitting since then unused, with code (I think) rr flashing away as well as mention of (again, I think) Zones 5 and 6 not being set [the system is two PIRs, one door switch, one keypad and the control box) Fast forward to last night - another 4 hour power cut - after about an hour the internal buzzer on the keypad started buzzing and could not be silenced. The power is now restored, there are no codes on the keypad but the buzzer is con…

Hi all I've recently purchased a new build home and unfortunately, the developer didn't offer the option to lay alarm cable for a wired installation. Due to financial constraints, i wanted to fit a predominately wireless system myself. I purchased a I-on40H kit with 3 x wireless PIRs, 1 x wireless door contact and 1 x wireless keypad. I also separately purchased one wired sounder. I wanted to fit one additional wired PIR and i have a spare texecom wired PIR from my parents alarm system. Can i use this in my system? This PIR will involve an extremely short cable run from the panel, probably less than 1.5m. Please note, my alarm system isn't li…

I've got an really old Optima MX6 system in my house, its a rental so over the years someone has been snip happy and cut wires away from the siren/speaker etc. I thought i'd give it a go and enable it again after finding out how to reset the codes. However the keypad isn't functioning and looking at it closer the tracks are burnt out and diagnosing it with a multimeter continuity isn't there either so the tracks are worn to the point i cba repairing them. However all the wiring and voltages test good for the rest of the system. So onto my main question I'm looking to replace the panel with something a bit more in with todays standards but reuse th…

Hi allDuring testing of my system, it doesn't appear to work properly. When I set the full or part system, the system appears to set as normal and the control panel displays 'SET'.....(all good and get the right tones.) The problem is when a zone is activated, the alarm doesn't sound and the control panel remains showing 'SET'.If I then put in the user code to unset the alarm, it unsets as expected, but then shows the zone that had been triggered when the system was set ie. 'ALARM KITCHEN'. If I set the alarm and then come through the entry/exit zone, the warning tone sounds as normal. If I don't enter the code within the specified time, the alarm goes off as expected.I ha…

  15. Hi, I wonder if you can help. A little info first maybe. I used to work for an alarm company many, many years ago. Old wired systems. I have installed two of the old Pyronix systems, wired. One in my house, one for my Daughter. Since then, I have installed 3 Enforcer systems, V11. One to replace my old Wired Pyronix, one for my Daughter and one in my holiday home. This is where my question come in, if anyone could help please?. I have fitted a Pyrinox External MC Wireless Magnetic contact to my pedestrian access gate. I wanted to know if and how, I could program the input as a silent alarm. That is, s…
