Afternoon, Need some advice my business has grown and I now have 3 engineers 3rd one starting next monday. I want to get some insurance sorted so all 3 enginners can drive any of the vans and I can just call and add anoth van on or another driver without the headache I am having at present. What is the best insurance to get and does anyone have any brokers?

  2. Not my work this time, but a guy from the Netherlands. He started reverse engineering the IP signalling protocol on an alarm so that he could act on events. Turns out the SIA-HS protocol is totally rotten Here are the slides from his most recent talk, where he goes over some of the flaws in SIA-HS. http://conference.hitb.org/hitbsecconf2013ams/materials/D1T2%20-%20Wilco%20Baan%20Hofman%20-%20Bringing%20Dutch%20Alarm%20Systems%20to%20Their%20Knees.pdf I can't find a video of the presentation, but he did one last year on the same topic: He also found problems in the Vebon SecIP protocol, although they are more subtle. Superficially it sounded good, bu…

Some days it seems I get nothing done. Nothing at all. My phone is a hotline between engineers, suppliers, staff etc. out of curiosity I thought I'd check how much usage my iPhone had clocked up in just over a year and it is a staggering 635 hours. Is this normal, or do I need to go ex directory?

  6. Once again, not me. This video is by a guy from the US, who spent quite a lot of time with a Honeywell Ademco system. It has a number of issues: Ability to brute-force codes on an armed system from the panel Ability to brute-force by using a small device connected to the ECP bus on the system RF has no encryption and can be replayed I'd imagine that there is quite a lot of stuff in this talk that will wind some people up, he doesn't like the terminology used in alarm systems, and a number of the issues he raises are only a problem with sloppily installed systems. It's only in video form:

  9. I've started writing a series of posts about the technologies used in alarm systems, and how the spec sheets match up to reality. I thought I'd start with frequency hopping spread spectrum which is used in some modern wireless alarm I'm going to cover rolling codes and encryption in later posts. *edit jpw

Just wondering if any one knows if the TS 900 can do confirmation (2nd alarm) signals, I have downloaded the TS 790/900 manual and followed the instruction on enabling it but the panel just doesn't seem to trigger the output, I've tried to programming different communication pins and the panel outputs and clean relay but still failed. I know the manual does both panels but am wondering if there is a difference between the 2 panels (which I suspect there is) or if the panel I have is faulty Brian

Hi, Just joined so as to try and tap your collective knowledge. I am not a professional installer, but I am installing and maintaining my own Agility system that I have replaced a Wisdom with. I am a microchip designer, so I am not a complete doofus. Almost everything on the agility is working fine, except one zone and the fact that the "Partition 1" voice announcement seems to have been set, by the previous owner, to "The sensor above the fridge"! My zone problem is that the hall zone is violated getting to the keypad either coming down the stairs or through the front door. Therefore I want to set it as entry follower for full arming but as entry for "sta…
