Hi, I have an alarm problem whereby it randomly sounds when its not even set. I believe both the external and the internal bell start sounding. I have had a look at the panel but cannot see anything untoward. I have a Veritas 8C. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks

  4. Hi All, Just moved into a house which has an old ADT alarm (2002). I have all the instruction Doc's etc, and also the previous owner gave me the code so have managed to reset all user codes to something specific to me and my family. I want to add another IR to the system, but I don't know the engineer code. Obviously this has been changed from the default. I was wondering if anyone could PM me if they know a way to reset the eng code to default. Any help would be appreciated (ps, not signing up with ADT as I'm going to change the system in about 6/9 months once I finish the work in the house and they will make me pay for the year).

  5. HI, I have a Galaxy 16 Plus installed in the house I have moved in to but cannot afford the annual maintenance cost. I have the engineer's code and engineer's manual. I had hoped to be able to send an alert to my mobile phone if there was an intruder (as I could with a cheap and cheerful system I installed in my previous house). I have entered my mobile phone number in the communications settings and connected the box to the phone line. The phone line was then engaged (indefinitely, I have now unattached it) but I get no alerts on my mobile phone. Is there a way I can achieve my goal? Kind Regards Richard

  6. Hi, Once upon a time... http://groups.msn.com/UKSecurityPanels/old...els.msnw?Page=1 I'm just wondering if anyone has tracked down a site which used to be at the above address. Yes, this is a long shot and it's obvious that it no longer exists, but it brought back many memories of old panels that I used to work on, such as Scanny's, CPA6, Sunthorne keyswitch panel, and some other vintage panels that are no longer around (or on the net). For reasons I won't go into, I need a photo of a Sunthorne and CPA6!! There are some photos on TSI, but no-where near as many that were on that site and not the ones I'm after. Wish I saved them…

  7. Hi, I am new to here but not to alarms. I spent nearly 25 years crawling through lofts but now due to medical issues I can no longer do it. However, my home alarm is a Gardtech 840 which has given great service is not playing ball. I installed a radio interface with a wireless zone expander (the early type stamped with a B) However, my issue is I need to remove the wireless expander and module to enable me to fit it on another system in my workshop. I go into programming say NO to wireless expander fitted. bingo I can come out of engineer no problem. When I go back into engineer mode and physically remove the interface from the data line I come out of engineer and t…

hi all, i am wanting to connect an additional bell box and sound bomb to my system which is already near full capacity, now i know i will need an additional external 12v psu which i will purchase however i realise for the sound bomb (just neg and pos trigger) i will need some kind of relay to connect on the negative trigger cable and wire to the bell output on the panel, now the question i have is what kind of relay is the correct one to purchase for this task? or is there any alternatives to a relay such as using a different trigger method or wiring off the sab module of the new additional bell box? any advice is much appreciated thanks in advance

Hi all Just wanted to ask you what your thoughts are on the ATS Aritech panels, particular the GE panels. I'm sure they have a number but I'm not expert on them. And I don't mean the cd panels.

Which option would you say is better for monitoring a FLEX panel? -Pay for a E080 ethernet board (70-100 quid) GX remote app... -LCE 01 ethernet board (£56.00) and SelfMon for one pound a month Thing is, by the time you've paid £56.00 for the PCB and a £1 per month to use the platform you could have just bought the official product off honeywell. Not knocking this Self Mon i've just seen lots of rave reviews about it and want to know what fellow security professionals think of it? I can pick up a E080 ethernet mod for £70 brand new, so playing devils advocate tell me why I should consider SelfMon?

  11. I'm sure you've all probably had this before. You go to site, complete 1st fix. By the time you return to do 2nd fix, you find cables cut. I'm pretty sure it was by accident but if you are working for a fit-out / electrical contractor, what is the correct course of action. Normally we just report it to the site supervisor and end up re-running the cable at our cost. But should we be more forceful and insist they pay? Is there a particular form to fill out? Would be great to get your thoughts.

  12. Hi I've taken over 2 x Protec intruder alarm systems 1 x Leamington Spa 1 x Derby does anyone have there engineers code? Regards Vernon

Hi, We have recently taken on a new member of staff to train in Fire & Security. And i was wondering if any of you had experience with this https://www.tavcom.com/training-courses/intruder-alarms/practical-intruder-alarms/ course? Good bad? Any others i should look at? i was trained on the job by my previous employer along with manufacturer training and a BS5839 course for fire alarm. But i would like to give our newbie actual qualifications as i think it would benifit us both. Oh and before anyone points it out, i am not expecting to send a guy with no experience on a course for a week and then kick him straight out to jobs on his return…

A client who has a large commercial premises is adding a cash room during their refurb, it will be on its on group that can only be set and unset by management with a maglock to prevent anyone gaining entry when set. Does there have to be a keypad in there since it's on its own area or can we set and unset outside of its group on another keypad? Regs don't seem to be very clear about it and don't want to upset anyone.
