Hi All I have inherited a Risco security alarm system with a set of remote 4 button keyfobs (see attached picture) and the original owner provided me with a working security access code to the system as well as a couple of remote 4 button keyfobs (see attached picture). So to avoid any misuse from the old code(s), I went in to the system and set new codes for the family and cleared all remaining codes from the total 31 codes that could be programmed on the system. In doing this, I think i have written over/reset the remote keyfobs and they don't work anymore, in that they don't set/unset the system. Having checked the alarm components, I see a set …

Hi - this is my first post and I’m hoping you guys can help shed some light on an ongoing query I have. I have a Grade 2 Monitored system with a URN that was setup to send a daily test call to the ARC via a digital communicator over my telephone line, the system has been installed and maintained for over 10yrs. It recently came to light that the digi was failing to communicate to the ARC each day (the ARC received the call, however no data transmitted) and therefore the panel was attempting to redial a number of times each day before giving up. This has resulted in me incurring a very hefty phone bill and baffled the alarm engineers as…

  6. Good day All, I am a user, rather than an installer, but this situation will probably interest many installers as well. I had an alarm system installed by a reputable local company in 1991 and never had a problem. In December 2012, I moved house and naturally turned to them for a new intruder system. (They had actually been taken over by a larger company by then, but the local company was still "an independent operating division".) A system was duly installed and all appeared to be fine until earlier this year when it suddenly occurred to me to ask the service engineer on his annual visit if he had tested the speech dialler function, which would…

I have damaged the cable to the keypad which set off in internal sounder and external strobe. i soldered the broke wires together to get into engineers mode but the keypad is dead. I guessing that I blew a fuse which if I remember correctly is somewhere in the main panel. my problem is how to I get to the fuse and replace the cable without setting the external siren off, I have removed the main fuse but would rather get it done now then sometime next week when the battery dies thank you in advance

I have a client who needs a PC based access control system (preferably Paxton Net2) but insists that he has to use the fob that he currently uses for his Castle intruder alarm. I know that Paxton ACUs can accept various other readers, but does anyone know which Wiegand or Clock & Data reader will accept the Castle fobs? Thanks

  10. Hi All, Wondering if anyone has an Risco RS232 cable or a PTM chip that they are willing to flog off? Cheers Max

We have just taken over a site with a Risco Prosys Panel. I tried the codes i was given then got locked out of the system. Had to power down and power back up to clear the Keypad Disable that was on the Keypad. Does anyone know where i can get a User Manual so i can reset the Time. The Prosys 7 shows a different keypad to what is fitted and wondered is the user Manual for that one the same as all the other Prosys Systems. On the keypad on the left i have 4 buttons top a pic of a Guard then A,B and the bottom button is another pic of a Guard. Any help would be appreciated. We can not do this with the Engineers code as we do not have it.

So do any of you use condemned notices. For instance to get rid of old obsolete panels and if so for what and when?
