Pen Test Partners have found another vulnerability, this time in car security apps. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-47485731 Another example of consumer driven rubbish being attached to the internet leaving people vulnerable to attack.

Hi everyone, haven't been on here in a while but just want to ask a quick question about the expanders on a Pyronix euro. When installing wireless expanders do you have to keep all 3 addresses free for that expander or can you use one of the addresses for a wired expander. I thought you had to keep the addresses free. We have just taken over a system with 3 wireless expander and 1 wired one. The wireless ones are addresses 0-8 but 8 isn't used. The wired expander is addressed as 8. We are getting problems with expander dropping off intermittently. Could this be the problem. Thanks.

Hi, I installed a hardwired challenger alarm system in a domestic property and the system included an auto voice dialler. The entire system works fine except from the auto dialler.. It doesnt call the programmed phone numbers when the alarm is triggered, but as soon as you enter the user code to turn the alarm off it starts ringing.. also if you remove the cover from the autodialler to release the tamper spring it makes the call but does not trigger the alarm.Any ideas what this could be? Checked all connections and they are as shown on the wiring diagram The auto dialler is a separate unit from the main panel Autodialler is the AT60 Main pa…

Do you use quad detectors as a matter of course? I’ve seen some posts here saying that all reputable installers use quad detectors. But that doesn’t seem right - Texecom for example only sells one kit with quad detectors in it. The rest have ordinary pet friendly ones. wondering whether there is really a benefit

Hi, I've recently installed an Elite 64 (w) with a com 2400 and speech module as the site has no mobile signal and we want the alarm to call their home landline numbers. I have a few questions for the more experienced guys out there Problem 1 not communicating - all seems to be working fine but when the alarm is triggered then reset after about 10 minutes it displays an ATS fault and requires the engineer reset. I have spoken with Texecom tech support and have taken their guidance on set up but I think a few things are missing/wrong. Problem 2 Reset - I also was unable to reset using the users code, I have seen other threads that suggest the use…

I have a Scantronic 9851 system installed with 14 zones, it was already installed in the house when we moved here two years ago. Recently I was unable to reset the system after an alarm; I was told that the control panel had crashed following an alarm activation causing a loss of 12v DC and that the control equipment needed to be replaced with a Texecom system. I've had good service from Scantronic systems for many years, so I did not have this done. At Christmas, the smoke alarm set the system off when cooking the Christmas dinner and the system was reset using the access code as normal. I'm reluctant to spend a lot of money replacing equipment which is working OK. Can a…

Hello guys!! Ive been meaning to get myself on here for some time now and finally had a bit of free time to do so! First things first - What a GREAT Forum, with out a doubt its helped me out many of times! This is my first post so excuse any "dumbness" Let me cut to the chase, I have been running a security installation company for 4/5 years. So far no issues, but Alarm wise we have only been sticking to the Visonic powermax kits and would like to branch out to Wired as it seems like we are turning away work, Now now, l'd like to know - Is it worth attending a course to learn the ins and outs of wired systems...? if so could you recomm…

Hi Hope that someone can help - I've just moved into different premises and there is a galaxy 48 on the wall, but all the cables had been disconnected. Well I've figured out the keypads and the detectors but there is a six core cable going to the bell box and I am having trouble with it to say the least! Obviously (I think) that red is +VE and black is 0v, blue and white seem to be tamper which leaves green and yellow. But when I connect them the siren either remains silent or goes off constantly. So am I connecting to the correct place? the RIO outputs, or do I need to fit resistors? Apologies if this is a stupid question. all my previo…
