Had a power cut where the power kept coming on and off over a 4 hour period and the partial power to low voltage items setting our alarm off. After full power restored alarm works but night setting does not omit zones and on entering property zone two activates before you can disarm alarm and zone 8 is fully actvated even though alarm is off! Can I fix it or can I claim against energy company any help appreciated

  2. Morning all! Hoping someone can give me some help or advice! I bought my house in feb of this year and immediately began doing the usual fixing and replacing. One thing I haven’t yet properly sorted is the Racal Guardall RLC1 light control unit that’s in my kitchen on the wall. it was faulty when I moved in, in that if the rocker was in the centre nothing worked, but if I had the rocker on auto, or on, the light outside would stay permanently on. I can also see the light has a separate sensor further up the wall. Not sure if that’s what is broken so that it was always on when on auto or if it was the panel. either way, I needed a securi…

I am about to have a pyromix enforcer alarm system installed. I will have a mix of motion sensors, contact sensors and shock sensors fitted. Is there any benefit of having two live boxes fitted to front and rear of property, or is one live box and one dummy sufficient.

  6. Hi everyone. I am Mr Clueless here, so please bear with me. I am wondering of anyone out there recognises the security system that is instilled in the flat I have just moved in to. It looks quite old and the previous owner didn't use it as they didn't know the codes etc. Has anyone got any information on this system? Inside the control panel, it has a sticker with QEDM1773 on it so I presume that is the manufacturer and model number?? See pics for the control panel and the separate power unit/battery etc. I don't think it is fixable (might be wrong if I could reprogramme it) so was looking to see if I could identify the wires for a replacement control unit or home …

Hi, just been to a job today involving a Citadel XR2. Looks like an ADE Accenta/Optima. Managed eventually to default it to factory settings and program it (mostly) . The programming seems to be a mixture of original Optima (EE times) and some G3. Also is set to Engineer reset by default unless I’ve inadvertently done this or just defaulted codes only. Does anybody have a link for the Engineer Manual to save the detective work. Thanks

Anybody know how to hardwire an external sounder to a powermax complete panel. There is 4 hard wired connections. I'm using a Texecom Odyssey X-B (E) and I have a 2.2k ohm resistor which I need to use but not sure where.

  11. Started by scrimshanker,

Me again, Mr Popular! Just wondering whether anyone had Pyronix Enforcer experience and if so is it a better choice than Visonic PowerMaster? I want a complete wireless system with an app that works, I first thought of Texecom ricochet but the apps nasty and I shouldn't need the Connect option to get an easy cloud based app that works. Thoughts?

I’ve been working with alarms for close to eight years for two different firms and the laptop situation is always a source of frustration for me. Looking to maybe set up my own computer so I can stop losing my rag so often with old laptops. My current and previous employer have various old laptops with software on. Today I’ve been attempting to change a galaxy panel, like for like swap (keeps losing a node, they’ve tried everything up to this point so are seeing if a new panel fixes it) needed to use an old laptop cos it has a serial port, found the software was too old. Got the update on a disk cos the thing is so old it doesn’t recognise any USB sticks. But…

Thought I'd start a separate thread for this as it's quite specific. Any bods here know about these two systems? Installed a DB system with 5 room stations and a nice flush vandal plate when I opened the practice 5 years ago which has been great all round and for internal communication (calling assistants etc). With the extension though it's going to need something like 12 intercommunicating master/subs. I've had a look at the spec sheets and it's seems it's either the IS or newer IX systems which will do it. The AX only does 8 stations sadly-shame that. Any suggestions for IS, IX or run away? Oh yeah, decided to not go…

  15. The original 9427 keypad has failed a number of the buttons not responding. Have purchased new Eaton keypad as coopers no longer supply this keypad. Has anybody had this experience and will this work?
