Now that Rentokil have made it public that they are selling off Initial Fire and Security, who would be the best company to take us over ? So far i have heard that Mitie, Bell, Chubb and Abel are all showing an interest in Initial. However, after years of under-investment by Rentokil, would these companies be any better ? Discuss.

I know someone who has just started as a trainee service engineer with a smallish outfit. They asked him to do his own credit check via Experian then send them the first page of the report. This, they say, is to check whether he has any CCJs and that he's registered to vote. Is this normal now? Didn't happen to me when I started a new job last year.

Hi, Can anyone help. I have a Optima 2 Plus alarm system with 3 zones set up and a time delay so that I can set the alarm before i go to bed. A little while ago I tried to set the alarm code whilst the lights were off and somehow set up one of the PIR's so that it chimes everytime someone is in the zone. Any idea on how to reset this. I tried downloading the pdf manual sent in by another subscriber to find the instructions but I cannot get into this as an error apperas everytime. thanks Amjad

Hi Guys, The smoking ban is almost upon us and I was wondering if anyone can answer this question. I have an engineer that smokes. I have installed no smoking signs in the van that this engineer uses and his contract states no smoking in the vehicle. If the engineer smokes in his van and gets caught who pays the fines? Hi everybody, My first post so bear with me! I have a Citadel XR2 panel and a YEB (Yorkshire Electricity Board) bell box/strobe. My siren no longer sounds. I have gone into engineer mode and tried the tests but even though the strobe works, the siren does not. Can anybody advise me what (if anything) to check or should i buy a new bell box, (any recommendations to go with the Citadel XR2 panel?) Many thanks in advance, Gary.

The "national installer" with three letters if you check out there website and look at there TV ad i have seen this on tv but just wanted to double check again, look at there bell box at the end of the ad. Anyone spotted whats wrong?

Hi All, I would like to go on a course to be trained in alarm installations but do not know where to start? I have alot of experiance in technology, computers and electronics so this shouldn't be too difficult for me, i don't want to start my own business or work for anyone, i just want to do this for myself to gain more experiance and maybe fit a few systems for family and friends. Had a look at a system the other day which is an A1 radio system (model 8000 / 8200 series i think) and is at least 10 years old. Has any body had any experience with this equipment or knows if it is still on the market as the customer would like an extra PIR fitted in the extension ?! Regards Stal.
