Back again (see my earlier post entitled Veritas R8 Plus "part Set" ) So finally I think I am getting somewhere, here is a quick recap. Full set - alarms all zones and entry/exit is through front door - works perfect Part set 1 - alarms all zones except Hallway so dog doesnt trigger PIR when we are out and entry/exit is through front door with normal quiet entry tone (used to activate alarm) - works perfect. Now, I want to set up part set 2 with PIR on landing omitted, PIR in hallway as entry / exit and front door on guard. Is this possible. This is so we can set this at nightime but then get a reminder when we trigger the PIR in the hallway on our way down the stairs…

Hi all, A customer has a 10yr old ADE Optima XM and not much cash to spend. External sounder/strobe does not work when everything else seems ok on walk test. Panel readings ok apart from voltage for SAB at panel output is only about 4V but fuse is ok. Aux supply ok. Not checked actual SAB as only 4v is output at panel. As fuse ok, I assume PCB component has fault and have recommended replacement of panel with a new model. My question is: 1. Anyone got any other ideas as to what I could check (and hopefully fix) that might be causing the problem? or 2. Anyone know any suppliers who might have this model (i.e. straight like for like for one replacement) to save cos…

Hello, what kind of fire detectors you will suggest me to install in two gas stores: 1. Inert gases store (Ar, N), liquid CO2 and O2; area of the store - 200m2, high - 5,6 m. 2. Dangerous gas store (acetylene) area of the store - 18m2, high - 4 m. In dangerous gas store I will put Ex detector obviously (regarding to class of the room). What kind? smoke, thermal, flame....? Thanks for answers.

I am not an engineer or have any detailed knowledge of alarm systems, however I feel comfortable working with household electrics and wiring in general. My problem is this:- In about early 1996 I installed an Abacus 8ABI alarm system which, bar the odd spider, has proved to be very reliable up until now. Yesterday when the system was off the internal alarm sounded and the remote keypad showed "TRBL Power". The alarm cannot be set and on each attempt the same fault shows in the display. If the alarm is reset to "System off" after about five minutes the same fault re-occures. I assumed it was probably the battery which has never been changed. However on checking it h…

Seen on another forum, the poster has a point. How many adapters do you have plugged in 24/7-the DECT phone charger, mobile charger, modem, baby monitor, laptop etc etc. How much do they contribute to the electricity bill.Even not attached there must be some quiescent draw if switched on though not connected.

Have a new problem, fitted 3 x Securakey 28 SA Plus card readers. All networked up so can play with them from the laptop. Door open times new cards deleting ect the usual stuff. Now we have fitted the U S Robotics V.92 modems to the systems other data bus line. Programmed lap top to dial up site telephone number, and the modem wont snatch the line. Spoken to suppliers and they say baud rates need to be matched......I say it has to pick up the line before it can establish protocols. Anybody worked with these modems as stand alone units (as i explained several times to wooden top on other end of phone). With these readers they supposedly get configured from the readers as…
