My sister's house has an Accenta G3 system that was installed shortly after their house was built. The installer, in Newcastle, is no longer in business. The house, and the others that were built at the same time were pre-wired - which means that everything is very neat. Six zones are in use, leaving two free. The front and back door are secured by magnetic contact switches and the downstairs rooms have PIRs. It has an LED control panel situated remotely near the main entrance and the main panel is secured two floors up. The garage, however, has been overlooked. I would like to add detection to the garage and I can see a couple of ways of doing it: 1) Add a PIR (dual-te…

Hi everybody ! I would like to upgrade the existing security system of a relative's house. He does not want any false alarm... and he does not have a lot of money. As there is already an old but fully functionnal panel, I have tought of replacing the old, cheap PIR detectors with good quality dual-tech ones, keeping the old panel. Do you see a problem with this approach ? The panel is extremely simple (4 wired zones), I can service it myself (batery needs to be replaced, and wiring connections needs to be done again as they were done using some adhesive tape by the original "professionnal" installer - needless to say that I prefer doing the setup myself (correctly) tha…

Hi Guys, been reading up on this site for a couple of days gotten a lot of helpful advice! My purchase on a new house will complete later this week but it doesn't come with an alarm system. So I'm wanting to install one while its still empty to make the job easier. I'm pretty handy with wires and electrics and fancy a DIY install. I've been looking around for what would be the best system to install and Honeywell/Ademco seem to be scoring a lot of brownie points. My only problem is that I can't seem to find anywhere that sells them. Where can I get myself one of these systems? I was initially looking at the Galaxy 16+/18 systems as (if I'm not wrong) they also allow …

Incidentally none of the windows have curtains. Ta

Hi all, my first post! Anyway. Little help needed. I am swapping an Optima Compact for a standard Optima G3 control panel. The problem I have is that as I have no ladders at present, is it possible to loop the tamper that comes from the bell box to stop the external siren sounding when I dissconect the alarm power and battery?? (If I am correct the bell box will sound with no power as it has its own battery). Thanks in advance! larky

Hi, having recently done my flat up i've just been burgled. I'm to install a new alarm system but can only afford to spend the minimum. I want to go wireless if poss, but want it to work reliably. Have read other posts on wireless - opinion seems to be that visonic is not so good (but have pet immune pirs) Scantronic is ok (but no good as not pet immune) Some have recommended guardtec. I have looked at the 595 on their website - is it possible to buy these if you're not trade? Has anyone any thoughts? I live in a two story flat with two entrances and some patio doors. I need two door contacts 4 pirs and two keypads. must have an external bell.

We've had an Optima G3 with 2 accenta keypads installed, linked to the phone line through a SD1+ and a smoke alarm is also connected. It's been installed about a week now but suddenly one of the Accenta Keypads (the exit keypad) is sounding a couple of low beeps every 3 to 4 mins. I've checked the instruction manual and faults at the back of the manual but it doesn;t seem to cover any of these. I thought some chimes may be set, but when press Chime the Day light flashes and according the instructions it should go out, then I should press 0 and then reset, there doesn't seem to be any Chimes set Anyone know why this is suddenly sounding when in the house. All the P…

I know wireless Deleted by moderator allot of you off but I need some help. I have fitted a infinitie alarm to my property in spain 1 year ago and its been ok. ( I had to go wireless as I am living with solar power. The other day the local handy man knocked the sensor on the floor off my front door and the alarm went off. I tried to turn it of with the key fob but with no success and i tried to enter my user code again the alarm wouldn't shut off. In the end the only way I could turn it of was to delete everything. I am now re registering the pirs and the sensors but I don't know how to register the external siren and the gsm unit. Infinte are not answering the phone…

I installled 4 Activ8 PIR's in my house at the weekend. Each PIR came with a plastic filter (pic attached), however there is no mention in the instructions of what it should be used for. I can see that they fit into the body of the PIR, but why would you use them? Are they used for the Pet Immunity? Thanks Adrian

Hi i've just finished installing an Optima G3 panel. I cannot set Program 3 to disable zone 4 (PIR on landing) when I follow the manual. When activating the panel to use Program 3 (night mode), the PIR on the landing triggers a full alarm condition. Is this a known problem or is the manual incorrect? Thanks Adrian
