HI First post here and really shout for help as I've scoured google and without identifying the external sounder I'm a bit stuck. Since moving into into the house I discovered the alarm system had been disconnected, possible due to a flat internal battery so have picked one up. I checked all the wiring and discovered the cables to the external sounder have all been removed. Trouble is I cant work out what should go where ! No guidance I've found online has the right combination. I've attached a couple of images taken just now and wonder if any of you have experience of this particular sounder, or at least could advise me what the terminology is on the…

Had the pleasure of upgrading a panel today in a cellar of a pub. The Landlord wished me good luck when I turned up, was expecting to find a birds nest or a panel riddled with faults but instead found this ........ don't know what was worse

Ordered a couple of Cisco firewalls and to my surprise was offered delivery on Sunday at the same price as normal next day delivery. I wasn't even aware it was possible. I know I can send stuff for Saturday delivery for about £25 but was surprised that amazon offered Sunday delivery at no premium. I notice Royal Mail are to do the same for parcels (god knows how the unions welcomed that one) so is it inevitable that in the world we live in, no day is off limits now? Would the fact you could get gear delivered to you / your engineers on a Sunday encourage more use of online shopping for gear from the likes of security warehouse?

Had a false alarm last night 1am while asleep. All sirens blaring. SMS came through saying sunroom DT. Being a dual-tec I was suspicious of a false alarm and the adrenaline was pumping when I went down to check it out... I was confronted by a huge moth flapping about in the sunroom that had triggered the DT7550. Terminated the moth, but it took me ages to get back to sleep after that If only we had a sensor that could accurately differentiate between humans and anything else. Picking up on brainwaves or the like. I suppose most amateur criminals don't have much going on in that area though!

I've been considering for a while getting rid, or seriously limited my 'connected' time. I've never been a lover of phones but I feel obsessed by my smartphone. Email on phones was the worst idea ever and guaranteed constant harassment. Has anyone here actually considered going cold turkey and completely dissing their smartphone in favour of a landline and if you're out and about, tough, you're not contactable like in the old days when we all coped perfectly well? The thought us starting to sound more and more attractive. It's ridiculous, that thing might as well be part of my skin as it's always attached to it. Last thing I look at when I got I bed and within seconds …

Or so it seems . . . I've read a few articles that suggests working longer hours and not having downtime is a waste of time as our productivity is poor. I must confess, I can believe it. I've worked round the clock day after day but the more I work, the less I get done. This game had always been overtime city, but does this work em to the bone attitude really benefit the employer or are we really paying more for less? Who here feels they do less when doing more? http://www.businessinsider.com/why-working-6-days-a-week-is-bad-for-you-2013-11

Mini Matt left the cartoons on and I'm ashamed to say I've enjoyed watching them Does anyone here admit to watching kids telly? When i was younger loved things such as smurfs, scooby doo, dogtanian, Tom and jerry, ghostbusters, fragile rock to name but a few. Much prefer tonight's toons to usual adult ****. Am I alone?

Hello all. I am an electrician and new to security alarm installations. Might be a long post so don't get annoyed please. I have an ion40 alarm, all the sensors, door contacts and sirens have been hardwired using the normal 4 pair alarm cable. Link to engineers manual removed... Norm The panel is a 16 zone panel, I have 8 pir sensors, 4 door contacts, 1 outdoor siren, 1 indoor siren and a keypad. The control panel also has a speach dialler module which just clips on to it. So all the cabling has been done and I've started to connect them but don't know if I'm doing it correct or not. What I have done so far: For all the pir sensors and door contacts, I've bunched…

Reason I ask is I answer my phone 'this is matthew' and 99 times out of 100 the called says is this matthew? Well dufus if you listened to what I just said . . . Got me thinking, when you phone someone, do you ever listen to what the other side says when the answer or is it just the people that ring me that are deaf?
