Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather. Going on my own installing soon, have read many posts on here advising not to do this, but hey someone somewhere had to start out. It aint going to be easy and start up costs are not cheap, then you have to get the business in so under no illusions on its no easy ride. But be gentle, I have seen some of the banter on here....lol Wayne

Hi in the age old position of looking to have an alarm installed as some scumbags tried to break into our house last Saturday morning at 4:30 probably to get the car keys to my sporty (!) Skoda. Anyway had a quote from a local SSAIB approved installer and was wondering if anyone could comment on the quality of the kit they are proposing to install? I don't have any problems with the firm just seeing if the equipment they are proposing is good stuff or not. Visonic K9-80 pet tolerant detectors . We have a dog and a cat. Hi all, just joined up to keep abreast of security products & installation techniques, integration into smart homes etc. I run my own company we offer complete solutions for digital satellite & terrestrial TV & radio, security installations, access control, multi room audio, cinema rooms etc. We've been running for 3 years after taking a business over and rebranding and now we do mainly larger installations such as big residential homes, business premises, factories etc. Looking to share & gain knowledge with others. Hopefully get to know some of you a bit in here, all the best, regards, Steve.

Good day people, wish to get advice from people in the know. First up, im a fully qualifed security engineer with a BTEC in security systems. I've got 8 years expreince in dealing with mostly commercial CCTV solutions. However I wish to branch out on my own and become a independent installer. Can I get advice from you for good public liability companies (how much should it cost?) and ways to advertise? Also do I need to be accredited by SSAIB or Nacoss? Thanks in advance!!

Hi all I'm new to this forum so hope I have posted my request in the right place! I have a Bosch EnviroDome camera, it is old but unused. The model is LTC 0928/15C with a 18X D/N camera. At present I am running an old PC with a cheap 4 ch DVR card (eBay pico2000) and two fixed cameras on the front of my house. I have just bought a small stand alone DVR to preplace the aging PC as it uses about 100W of power 24/7, the new DVR only uses a little over 11W. I have tested the Bosch camera on the old PC system and can get the PTZ working over RS232 or RS485 without problem. I tried all the available protocols but the only one that worked is UEL MV961A all other protocols…

Hello everyone my names mark, I'm not a security installer but a jib electrical technician, iv been working as an electrician for about 14 years now. i was wondering if i could ask for some advice with an alarm install I'm currently doing at home? I'm much more used to small 8 zone panels honeywell G4 etc. but because its my house and i want to be able to write my own zone labels, have more zones and the option of wireless add ons at a later date id decided to put in a new honeywell flex 20 panel and use part of the existing wiring system.
