What do you have as a company Van or Car? I would imagine most installers will have Vans and Service engineers would ideally like to have cars or estates. Being a service Engineer, I don't see the need to have a van as the amount of stock I carry only warrants a small storage compartment. Obviously I need to carry ladders and steps but I find that having to climb the van to release the ladders is tedious at best. I know in the past, cars and estates have been taxed more but now the tax has been reduced for smaller CC cars over larger CC vans. This I know as some of my previous work colleagues have different vehicles, one with an Astra Estate (1300CDTI) which has less t…

i worked until 630pm Monday night to Finnish a new intruder system in a shop, got it up and running & then the manager says he is off work tomorrow and the member of staff opening up wont know the code so better not set it tonight. i dropped in the next day to Finnish some trunking and.... the place had been broken into that night ! spoke to the manager yesterday and he was totally gutted. he kept on saying "if only id set it & rang the other fella to give him the code" i really feel for the chap, i also spoke to the owner of the shop & he just said sh*t happens. I'm glad i had at least stayed to get it up & running.

Just installed a Scantronic 9651 - all working nicely apart from the PA. The message I get on the control panel is that the circuit is open. There were no instructions but I have wired up according to some of the discussions I have read on this forum. Also, the red LED is on all the time - is that usual? If not usual, this may give a clue as to the problem. Hopefully these pics could help: - Green and Yellow are connected to the alarm zone terminals on the control panel. (Does it matter which way around they are connected?) - Brown and orange are connected to the tamper loop. - Black and red are power. - Blue and white are not connected (at either end). Really…

Hope someone can help me please, Its a long story but I have just had a Texecom Veritas R8 Plus installed. I'm a total novice which is why I had someone install my alarm. We use "Full Set" when we all leave the house and "Part Set" when we leave the dog behind so he doesnt trigger the PIR in the hallway. When we use "full set" and enter the house we get the low volume "entry" tone and then enter our code which unsets the alarm. When we use the "part set" and enter the house we get an alarm activation, enter our code to stop the activation and then have to press reset to unset the alarm. We dont think this is right, our installer says it is (as I said, its a long sto…
