Hi there, I'm hoping someone can give me a simple answer, I can't find it anywhere. Could you tell me,does a DIY alarm system in any way fall under the control of any of the British or European standards? When I say DIY I mean just that, a kit bought from a high street shop and installed by any man in the street, not an alarm installer. To clarify, I mean alarm system regulations, ( PD:****, EN:**** etc ) NOT electrical or noise pollution

hi, I fit systems for a nat company. Have a galaxy 60 at home ( v4.50) and i am trying to get the tel coms mod to text my mobile. Reading from the manual for a g2 ( my 60 manual isnt as new as the software ) is says u need to have a primary account tel number for it to dial. before the txt is sent. (I.e the central station call has failed) I have gone through all the settings in communications, 56.17 sms paging. Do i need a centre number as well as my moblie number? Thx for any help, Charlie 1-1

Friday bought a Goodmans 32" LCD TV from Comet when 4 year-pld crt went down - when its was displaying a dark or night scene there was a dirty great white patch on the screen, obviously faulty so took it back today and got a replacement. From viewing the TV this evening, the replacement is worse than the previous unit, dark scenes have a big white patch in the middle of the screen covering about 50% of the screen area! Anyone else got an LCD TV, have you had any similar experiences?

Hello, I've question about perimeter protection system. What kind of perimeter protection system could you suggest me to design in the place where is quite intensive vibration - powerful compressors working (the distance from fence of perimeter is about 50 meters). Sure, the vibration would be just near those compressors - so could I to protect with wire system - such as "defensor" ? What kind of other systems? wires, microwave, IR? There area of domain is about 300x350 meters. Thank you

I have moved into a house with a Scantronic 9651 alarm with six zones. The manual states you can set the alarm in silent mode (except on level A) , however it does not state how to set up silent mode and how to set up level B,C and D as part zones. Thank you in advance. arun soni

Hello, I am an experienced alarm installation engineer (now retired) and am on a long holiday with my daughter in Australia at the moment. I fitted the Gardtec 370 in her house 7 years ago and she never had a problem with it but now she has a tenant living there. The tenant is stating that the alarm (sounder) went off a few times when she was using convection heaters over the holidays and the mains were tripped. She is now insisting that we have the alarm serviced immediately or disconnected as she thinks a power cut is inevitable and she doesn't want to upset the neighbours. I think the back up battery probably needs replacing but I don't get back to the UK until la…

Gent's, thanks so much for your replys and help, what I think I will do is go for the GT595 as it can take 16 zones i'll use 11 or 12, running a hard wire out to the garage for a door contact and a pir. Having said and looking at the risco spec on the 595 there's about 8 models 3 1amp and 3 2amp the others are polycarb panels which I dont really like, I wanted metal, the panel will go in the loft, but as it's metal have you ever come across problems with condensation ? Yes I am sparks and I understand electrics not a problem but why 1 amp & 2 amp models what is there to begained by + or - 1 amp either way. So a 595, but whats with the STU ONE, SERIAL, G Tag well I m…

Could some one please explain Zone Doubling to me, I am confused on which model to choose. I was looking to install the GT490X but I need more zone than are available until read about the zone doubling 9 or 16 via the " ZD" facility so how do I link wireless PIR units together amongst others too. Or should I just go for the 595 which has more than enough. This is for my own place I am not an alarm tech just a sparky, this is all bit new at the mo but I willing to learn. Thanks, Volts240

Hello its been a while since my last post bar my earlier post today. Have you found going from a small company of only a few engineers to a big company with many engineers difficult. Is it very different? After being offerd the job today i was showed around the premesis and its set up allot differently. Certainly its impressive but it looks like im going to have to keep on top of paper work, van stock etc allot more than i did before. Either way im excited.
