Ive just got a general gripe not that its like me to moan lol but why do manufacturers design a product that works really well then decide to "redesign" it and turn it into a real nightmare on this occasion a novaguard 6. Imagine been on call all week, its half five at night when I should be finishing getting to a job to swap a strobe on an old regalsafe bell that wasnt done when someone serviced it last week and finding I didnt have a strobe to fit as someone borrowed it and gave me back a yellow strobe. Oh did I mention it was raining hehe, anyway strobe didnt fit so thought sod it, customers fully maintained so ill put a new bell up, wired it all in all seemed well…

Can anyone give me a definitive answer on the use of the different road cameras seen on motorway bridges etc. I think the blue square boxes beside A Roads are trafficmaster(??), but what are the green boxes seen above each lane of the motorway, and other strange fittings??

Got called to an interesting faulty tonight... Reported fault: Landing pir not working. So, check end station aux power...ok Check downstairs pir's...all ok Check power in landing pir...NOT ok Ah well...that must be a cut wire...so I traced it back to the panel. It was a relatively short run, and I had easy access to it. I found no damage. After a bit of head scratching, I shorted the relay terminals in the pir and checked continuity back in the panel...NOT ok What's going on 'ere then? Anyway, I took the pir down, and in doing so, pulled on the individual cores. TWO just pulled through. They were cut, and looking at the length of the cut wires, I assess…

Hello, We lost the power to our alarm for about 1 hr, it was ok for a couple of days after that then started to play up. Basically I thought the backup battery was faulty so replaced it but it turns out that something is draining it. I can recharge the battery and the alarm is ok for a couple of days then gradually the LEDs within my PIRs come on and stay on and then the green 'Day' LED on the alarm panel itself will go out and it's then not possible to set the alarm at all. Any ideas gratefully received before calling in an expert......thanks.
