Hi, A year an a half ago we bought our new home. It's an end of terrace at the end of a cul-de-sac. When we moved in we kind of figured out that it had previously been burgled because the French doors at the back had different handled and there are marks on it from it being jimmyed open. Anyway, when we moved in I got a Yale Easyfit smartphone alarm and me and my dad installed it. I figured that having an alarm would help deter anyone and they would burgled somewhere else. Anyway, last night at 8pm the alarm beeped and I got a notification on my phone saying that a 'Jam detected' and then another notification 30 seconds later saying 'no jam'. I didn'…

I have an old gardtec alarm, possibly a 370 as the menus seem to match what I found in a manual online. I am looking to move the control panel to a different part of the house. Is this a straightforward process? I only have the master code and not an engineer code for the alarm. I have run a new cable to the new location so am I ok to disconnect the existing control panel wire and just replace with the new one? Should I disconnect the power before doing so or will it give me less grief doing so with the power on? I know the other panels dont operate from battery power. Thanks for any help.

Hello folks Currently having a go at my 5th alarm installation (do them for family only) and first time hard-wiring into a Galaxy Flex panel (previous experience with Scantronic). In the past I've done them noob fashion ignoring any TAMPER related connectivity and settings (easily done with Scantronic panels). This is the first time I'm faced with using or having to think about resistors and associated on board settings (I wish to configured for TAMPER where possible this time). My questions are in BOLD. I have: Galaxy Flex 20 with GSM and Ethernet module and Standard control panel. Zone config: Zone 1 = Final (Magnetic door contact) -…

The other day, whilst at home and the system unset, the speaker sounder went off (but not the SAB). I entered the engineers code (didn't try a user code first) and the alarm stopped. I've not had any false alarms whilst the system was set. Not had any problems since. It seems this was a one off. The log reports "K01 missing" and "K01 restore". The wiring to the keypad is fine although it does pass near the consumer unit and had already been relocated by previous owners by a local company after false alarms (reason for those not in report). Their recommendation was to use screened cable to the keypad if the "false alarm" continued. Is the 9943 prox …

Hi All I installed a Pyronix Sterling 10, 15yrs ago, which has been a great piece kit however the key pad is on it's way out. Current setup (all wired): 8 x PIR 6 x Zones 1 x Panic Button 1 x Siren 1 x LCD Keypad If you need additional information to support, just let me know. All help is appreciated, It'll be good to make an informed decision based on t…

Hi, Today I had two alarm jobs and on my last job I got a phone call asking for a replacement alarm system as the one they had was rubbish. I got to the house with a brand new Pyronix enforcer and before installation of the enforcer the people in the house told me they just moved in to the house 3 days ago and the house had a Response Miguard fitted and they said it was false alarming and going nuts with them. I installed the enforcer on the house and at the end of installing the Pyronix enforcer they were thrilled with the system. Now my review on the Response Miguard is that it's very flimsy and I wouldn't say it's the best because there really poorly and cheaply made a…

Hi, I asked last week what would be the best dialler to connect to my existing system and was advised on a honeywell informa. After purchasing this and looking at the connections, I understand the dialler needs 4 cable from the panel and two are power, it's just the other two. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, I was just looking up some information on texecom, when I came up with this website:- http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/12/31/iot_alarm_crypto/ It states the a security expert believes the alarm is open to hack attacks when you leave the port open for your router. But this is what texecom advise the owner to do:- "To be able to remote control the alarm system remotely, you open a firewall port in the router and do a port forwarding to the internet. But this allows the mobile app to directly connect to the ComIP module over an unencrypted connection, Lo Castro discovered. Using WireShark, he said he had dis…

Hello All I'm struggling to get my Alarm panel set up as i want it, and i think i have a gaping hole in the way i have it set up at the moment. I'm a DIY installer just doing my own properties. I've installed three Veritas systems and decided I needed "something better" for the last house so went for the Premier. To be honest, as the pros here say, you need to know what you're doing. I found the Premier had a much steeper learning curve and most of the functions not applicable to a simple domestic install. I've just moved house again and inherited a functioning Scantronic system but the house is about to undergo major renovation and rebuilding and was littered with remnants of at least two legacy systems and it was hard to know which cables were safe to cut. There were magnetic switches on every singl…

I recently moved into a house with existing Scantronic 9752/9941 system and have flashed it back to factory, added some new PIRs and a GSM communicator (standalone box by ControlFreq) triggered by -ve from alarm output. I've set it all up and working fine (apart from the [national installer] Elmdene SAB that has a permanent tamper fault that I'm looking into). An alarm condition will SMS the phones I need it to but on my previous Texecom (Veritas and Premier), there was a RR input that I could pull down to 0v to acknowledge/silence the alarm remotely. How can I do this on the 9752? I have the ENG RESET (Prog 33) ON and REDCARE RESET (Prog 23) ON bu…

I am looking for (if such a thing exists) a control panel that has different outputs depending on which areas are set. I would like to be able to specify that if the alarm is part/night set then only the keypads sound and not the full internal sounders. Pets getting in where they shouldn't or people forgetting to unset the alarm before going downstairs has given me a number of heart attacks at 3 in the morning. Any advice would be grateful

Anyone had success getting the internal serial port to generate a message stream, either in Direct mode or Printer mode? I'm trying to generate a stream of events for reading by a home automation system (no control of panel needed - trying to keep the systems as independent of possible), but I can't persuade the panel to generate any output I can read. Set up is: Genuine FTDI RS232 cable connected to the internal serial port (TXD/RXD/CTS/RTS/0V) all connected Serial port enabled in the panel; have tried both printer and direct mode Serial port configured as 9600/N/8/1 (defaults) Output using SIA Mode 3 Currently looking at output using …
