Hi, I've just bought my first house (so am more skint than a skint person that's just come first place in a skint competition) and need an alarm installing. I'm open to advice, but like the look of the Texecom Veritas Excel especially having a LCD remote keypad. To try and save a bit of money on installation costs, I was going to run the cabling in for the sensors etc. myself whilst doing the decorating etc. then have the panel installed professionally. What core cable is required for the Excel and can someone suggest (sensible answers please ) where i should put the main PCB? Thank you in advance. James

WANTED I have a Concept 6 system since 1987 and has been perfect, never let us down. I have just replaced the back up battery and is the only money that has needed to be spent on the system. What I do need now is a replacement keypad as the original is breaking up. I have tried to find another one but have been told they are obsolete and need to bbuy another control box and keypad!! Can anyone advise me on where to get a replacement???

Can anyone help i'm trying to locate a company called GDA last telephone number is 01159 22 2228 ( this is now The Bombay Brasserie, Beeston, Nottingham and as nice as i'm sure that is i think even if I ordered a take away it might be a bit cold by the time it reached the channel islands ) I have a customer with a faulty smart card system being used on a recreation centre they have about 8 of these units with one not working I don't intend spanding to much time fault finding with no background on the system as in the time honoured tradition they don't want to spend too much money so any help finding the above would be most welcome Steve

Familiar story I'm sure: we've just moved into a new house which is fitted with an Optima XM6 (also all the smoke alarms are linked to the unit also) We have no idea how to use the unit but know the security code to activate it. Is there a manual I can download from anywhere? Grateful for any suggestions John

Are there any offical qualifications required to be a security installer/service engineer? (all areas of security access control, cctv, intruder?) Eg btec or nvq? Can anyone recommend any good books or guides or web sites to increase my knowledge of security? For instance setting up cameras properly or fault finding intruder systems?

I have just installed a Gardtec 840 with Contour Keypad. I have programmed the latter as JP1 and keypad is recognised by opanel and all appears to be well. When I enter user or engineer code unit goes into local alarm with message "Kypad 1 Tamper". I have rechecked wiring, that tamper switch on keypad is being made etc and am now stuck. Any assistance would be most appreciated. , David

Hello I'm trying find a hardwired system for a large house, which has an office with its own separate access. I need to allow staff to turn off the alarm only in the office zone. Not the whole house. I'm concerned they could un-set the whole house - which I dont want them to be able to do. I also want a dialler to call my mobile/other number when alarm activated. The system will have 30 sensors (made up of magnetic contacts , 2 pet friendly pirs, 5 shock sensors, 3 remote keypads) There are so many systems out there I really need advice on which is best. My electrician fitted my previous house, and will do so again. (I did get a quote from a professional alarm comp…
