My friends have a Scantronic 9800 which they have just had serviced (i.e. adopted by a new secruity company). Previously the chime setting (which they have enabled on the front and back doors) used to go 'ding-dong'. Since the service it now goes 'BOCK ding-dong'. The engineer claims that it can only be set that way (i.e. he probably dosen't have a manual to allow him to set it how they actually want it ). Anyone give me a clue as to how to ask him to set it up correctly (i.e. as it was before he played with it)? Provided I can pass on the instructions then they will call him out to do it correctly (assuming it needs engineering mode).

Hi all, Just bought a house and the previous owners have left the entire alarm system, an Accord XPC originally installed by //.National Installer.//. Now, it was a monitored system but they have obv stopped that and just left it as 'bells only'. They have given us the code which I believe was the master code and deleted their normal user code. I tried to change this code to a new one by following the instruction manual (11 page small booklet) and things seemed to work fine. It beeped twice to confirm acceptance of the new code. Now tho everytime I enter this new code the alarm goes off - And hell is it loud I can disable it by entering this same code again. My …

can anyone help??? I have a veritas 8c alarm in my house - it recently stopped working , when I tried to set it or push any buttons it made a harsh beeping sound (not the usual sound for setting) so in an attempt to reset the alarm I cut off its power. however when I turned the power back on it beeps for about 5 mins and then the alarm goes off. can I do anything - is there a factory code that needs to be input or is this a job for a technician?? any help appreciated., , Tom

I inherited this system when we bought our house. We have found it works well but recently we had a power cut in oour street which caused the outside alarm to be activated. I was unable to stop it and it did only stop when the electricity was restored. Luckily this was a short power cut, but surely there must be a way to override it in the event of a power cut. Any suggestions please?

Does anyone know where I could get a key to reactivate my optima 2 plus security alarm please? I recently moved house and the previous owners did not leave a key for the panic button, which I accidently set off while vacuuming. I now cannot get the alarm to activate. An "A" keeps flashing on and off in the zone display. Any suggestions gratefully received.

I am looking for a retailer who will sell me a few detectors etc. I am particularly looking for Optex detectors and some ID biscuits. I need these items as I am installing a second-hand castle meridian. Can anyone recommend a retailer in the Berkshire area - or (even better) an online retailer? Thanks in advance.
