security qualifications

Featured Replies

Are there any offical qualifications required to be a security installer/service engineer?

(all areas of security access control, cctv, intruder?)

Eg btec or nvq?

Can anyone recommend any good books or guides or web sites to increase my knowledge of security? For instance setting up cameras properly or fault finding

intruder systems?

There are new rules coming in from the ECA and the JIB concerning this, although I think it may only apply to building sites.

Basically, newcomers to the trades, I think, will need qualifications to get their card.

These are usually City & Guilds and/or NVQ's.

Search the forum for 'CSCS' and you should find some links provided for me on the subject.

:)

If you don't know......ask.

no book will tell you how to find faults,it comes with age and a willing to stay up all night thinking about that fault and how to fix it  ..tho if youre looking to get into the industry start a college course in security and then hit the nationals for a job, shows your willing to learn and they like that sort of thing and are more likley to give you a chance...unless there's a local on here willing? :)

Eng, nice to see you.. I was conserned already...

There are quite a few courses involving security nowdays, Tavcom are mostly responsible and you can find a list of btech courses here

For CCTV, A must have book is "The principles and practice of CCTV" as for the other sectors of the security industry a search on amazon books should reveal plenty
