Whilst away on holiday, a storm managed to trip the power to the house. A neighbour restored the power for us but it appears that a fuse within the alarm also blew and shortly after the backup battery ran down. I replaced the fuse in the alarm box and all appeared normal at first but I think that everything has reset. Where do I go from here? Thanks in advance

Hi, I've just bought a TEXECOM VR8 control panel and all the bits and bobs, I wanted to attach a second bellbox to the system instead of just having a dummy as the second box, but I wasn't sure how to wire it up - putting in one is simple enough (following the instructions...) - if I want to add another one can I just wire it up in series? Any help would be much appreciated.... .

I have an Optima XM6 Panel and the keypad flat ribbon has deteriorated so the keypad no longer works. Is it possible to get a spare keypad? I appreciate that it is probably not possible.... With that in mind what would be a suitable alternative panel to fit, I have had a look around and there are quite a few for around £40. Which would people recommend if they were having a replacement themselves...

I have this alarm system in my house and I recently noticed that the siren was no longer working in the bell box. The strobe works ok but not the siren. There's voltage into the bellbox on the bell+ and the -s tags so I guess the bell box is goosed. The cmfort leds on the front of the box aren't working either, allthough there is voltage on the supply- and the supply+, so that kind off confirms that the box is goosed. So my question is ,can anyone reccomend a bell box that is compatible with the securit 700l Plus?

Hi Site, Looks an interesting site and one for my question! The story so far... I had a security installation about five yrs ago from a reputable local firm. A year later I had my house extended and had to have the Main box moved and an additional sensor in the garage, but fitted by another (SSIAB) installer. We continued to use this installer for servicing, but since the main box was moved we encountered the alarm setting itself off when in the off mode. The installer visited us over five occasions, changing filters, disconnecting strobes etc to resolve the problem. The last comment was to change the control panel. Now I am no security installation expert but I was…

We have had an alarm for a few years now. Not a monitored one just a box and bell thing. For the first few years that we had it installed we had it regularly serviced but then my wife and I got made redundant and we could no longer afford the servicing. Anyway, after just over 12 months from the last service the alarm went haywire. I called the guy that fitted the alarm and he quoted me a massive call out charge. As we had no cash at the time I thought "Bu**er that"! So, I opened the control box, had a poke around inside and there, hidden behind the back-up battery was a small card about the side of a box of matches with a red flashing light and four small switches on it.…

A carpet fitter has cut an alarm cable which was surface mounted on a skirting board. Who is to blame for this, the carpet fitter or the alarm engineer?

I have a system powered by a securit 800 L panel (the CEF AP28 version) - I can't silence the key pad, it wont take the user code or the engineer code. I have mains power OK but neither the day or 24hour lamps on the key pad are alight. I have checked the fuses and all including the 1amp in the panel are ok. I have tried disconnecting the battery but that makes no difference at all. I can get my electrician here in the morning but in the meantime I have two childern who will not be able to sleep tonight if I cannot silence this kepad !!! Does any body have any suggestions that might help me silence this keypad - suggestions such as put a hammer through it are good but…
