Do you have a CS Receiver that you no longer require? Preferably a Scancom 6100. Condition is not important as it is only being used in a test lab that designs PSTN test equipment. Paul Paul at ntstelecom#co#uk 01635 231316 www.ntstelecom.co.uk

I have somehow managed to live my life until now without a PDA..... but O2 have offered me a free one so it seems a bit rude to refuse. So which one should I ask for... I think the choice is: O2 XDA mini S O2 XDA Exec O2 XDA 11i Nokia 9300i or a Blackberry I would like something that will run MSN Access, but I don't think any of them do..... other than that I need the usual things, MP3, Good memory & reception. I don't really know much about them and what I should look for..... Hell, I don't even know what I will use it for. Perhaps you can tell me. Paul

Ok guys, I have upset some of you with my, err, let's say "stupid" post about engineer codes a few weeks ago. So this time I'll try to make an intelligent post. I have a great interest in alarm systems and I would like to learn the common practices of the industry. I suppose that the first thing that you respect (as qualified professionnal) are regulations. Where can I find them ? I have read a lot of alarms user manuals, and I'm starting to have a good idea of the possible options that a domestic alarm system offers. But in which ways does a retail/industry alarm system differ ? I suppose it is the kind of info I would get from some regs. I do not expect to get so cal…

Hi, I have a Texecom Veritas Excel PCB and a Texecom Speech & Text Dialler. The alarm went off last night which was caused by the garage door (think the wind caught it and i'll sort the contact out). My problem is: The alarm was on Part set suite 1, but the alarm did not sound. My dialler sent a text to my mobile phone telling me it was a 'PA Alarm'. I have checked the settings for the internal/external sounders and they are set to activate if the system alarms. What i can't work out is why the alarm didn't sound and the dialler told me it was a PA Alarm. When I went downstairs to reset the alarm and check all was well, I didn't get the entry/exit tone as i …

I once complained that Texecom did not keep our engineers up todate with new products. They have gone completely the other way now, the other night at midnight I received a text message about a new product, very handy when in bed!! When on Call the mobile WAS always nearby it aint now!!!! Still cannot blame them for being keen, and reliable despite the odd problem.

Now that a lot of what we once considered TRADE only panels are being sold by the likes of Screwfix and numerous online retailers, should we be re-thinking what information/advice we are willing to discuss in these public forums.? Should the fact these panels are easilly purchasable by the public, and that most of these panels manuals are readilly available online at quite a few sites mean that any related queries should be up for discussion..?

In London next to the Hendon Poice College a recently finished modern designed wooden framed building caught fire and went up like an inferno, destroying an entire block of houses. Within the industry we strive to meet every possible standard, fire prevention rated etc etc. Sometimes I believe the 'so called expert designers' are well educated with no street experience. I am so pleased there was no person's living in the building, however if it went up that easy perhaps a serious rethink is needed for us all on locations of control panels, transformers etc in this type of building.
