Odyssey 3e To Scantronic 9651

Featured Replies

I have just installed a scantronic 9651 and connected the odyssey 3e to it. I only had 4 cores so I connected:Bell A(12v) to 12v AUX Scantronic 9651

B(Bell) to OP1

C(Tamp) to TR

D(0v) to 0v

E(Strb) placed a link between bell and strobe in the odyssey.

However I cannot get the bell to activate. I have tried the panic button, setting the alarm off, bell test(option 91). None of these works!

The 4 core has been proved. have tried it connected to the panel with 5 cores...still the same!

The bells LEDs are flashing slowly showing that it is in normal operation.

When power(12v) is removed the bells siren sounds...when reconnected it is silenced!

There is no bell delay programmed in.

Bell is programmed to sound for 15 mins.

Have tried down powering panel and bell, connecting bell then re-powering. No joy!

Systems sets and unsets and internal sounders activate when in alarm. Bell will not activate. The siren definetely works!

I have had a nightmare with this. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

What happens when you connect the bell trigger B to 0v instead of output 1? If it rings its an output problem, either programming or faulty. If it doesn't its either cable or bell.

not beeen a scany user for some years, but the bell terminals are marked - (drive -) & + (permanent hold off +) so your siren should not drive from op1 as there is not enough current available, but bell - (negative)

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

Scanny pcb terminals

the hold off +volts and -volts are taken from the aux + and -

op1 is the bell trigger

op2 is the strobe trigger

tr is the tamper return

Life is like a box of choclates.....if you dont get there first your left with all the naff ones

wonder why scanny went for potentially confusing terminology?

op1 on most panels is programmable for reseting vipers and the like.
