OK, so the ACPO policy clearly dictates that an alarm system must have a URN before the police will respond. I would be interested to hear views on what the police would be likely to do in the following two real world scenarios: 1. No alarm installed in house A. Next door neighbour looks out of the window and sees a dodgy looking character climbing thru a back window - clearly breaking and entering. The neighbour phones 999 and reports the incident to the police. Will they respond ? 2. Camera system installed in house B. Owner is 100 miles away working when he gets alerted on his mobile of an intrusion. He sees clear images of the intruders on his mobile. He then dial…

Thinking of driving down for the UEFA Cup Final in Manchester this Wednesday and maybe parking up somewhere and getting the train for the last leg of the journey. Thought Bolton might be a good bet as it's close to the M6 and there seems to be a good train service to Manchester Piccadilly ( short walk to the big screens in Piccadilly Gardens ? ) as Manchester will be manic with around 100 000 ticketless fans expeced !!! What would be the best plan ? Stal.

Hi All, Just logged on and checked for new posts etc, Just in case anyone needed any help-as you do!. And it would seem that a certain company has taken over the world!!!. I won't mention names as respectable engineers uphold the forum regulations-suffice to say that apparently a roman soldier as of very recently is the no1 in the alarm world. Do the rest of us stand a chance?. What happens next!. Richard.

Hi I have a Scantronic (Cooper Menvier) 9751. I have changed the battery following its failure. But I can not reset the system - as I enter the code the system shows "lid tamper reset required" and the red "spanner" is lit - I think I need to enter the Engineers / Installers code but I don't have these codes. Can someone please advise how I reset the system. Thankyou

Just been looking at the product reviews on the Domonial panel and wanted to give my opinion, but i do not have enough posts to place a review!! DOH!! I am not a big fan of the panel and heres why.. 1. No full log 2. Where do you put the broadband filter? 3. The end user can over-ride faults without really knowing what the fault is. 4. There is no text display 5. The system can be set with protected doors open. 6. There is no extention speaker. 7. The T.C.U (keypad) eats batterias. 8. It is recommended you open the end station with a 2p coin!! NUFF SAID!!

I have a scantronic 9800. Its was fitted over 20 year ago. A few weeks ago its battery failed. I couldn’t find a local engineer so I was forced into a bit of DIY. I bought and fitted a replacement battery but still couldn’t get the alarm to work. I made a good job of removing the NVM chip and breaking one of its legs. I think its ok, only half of the leg is missing and it looks like it still makes a connection. Is it possible to get a replacement NVM chip? I would also like to know if I should up-date / replace the panel. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
