January 29, 200818 yr comment_189333 Friday bought a Goodmans 32" LCD TV from Comet when 4 year-pld crt went down - when its was displaying a dark or night scene there was a dirty great white patch on the screen, obviously faulty so took it back today and got a replacement. From viewing the TV this evening, the replacement is worse than the previous unit, dark scenes have a big white patch in the middle of the screen covering about 50% of the screen area! Anyone else got an LCD TV, have you had any similar experiences? January 29, 200818 yr comment_189349 hi guys, i ran a thread before xmas much the same as this one when looking for a flat screen set. om my researching on advice given i viewed many screens on standard non hd signals, one particular specialist shop hapily displayed both plasma and lcd size for size of the same make. my observations were even with several plasma's there was a 'smoke' effect on dark moving subjects when on light backgrounds, watch football the players were ok, but the crowd seemed to be affected by what i can only describe as delayed focusing, if the camera was still it was a second or so before the crowd was in focus. despite the rep i thought sony bravia's were amongst the worst and samsung among the best LG's were in the better part of the middle, i've always had bad experiences with samsung gear regarding longevity so steered clear. ended up with an eversham 42" lcd, full 1080p 6.5 ms response reduces the hazing effect mentioned above, has freeview and came with a HD player, table stand and alternaive wall fixings, plus 2 year on-site swap out all for If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
