Optima G3 & Bell Box

Featured Replies

Hi all, my first post!

Anyway. Little help needed. I am swapping an Optima Compact for a standard Optima G3 control panel. The problem I have is that as I have no ladders at present, is it possible to loop the tamper that comes from the bell box to stop the external siren sounding when I dissconect the alarm power and battery?? (If I am correct the bell box will sound with no power as it has its own battery).

Thanks in advance!

Hi , use the 12v back-up battery in the panel as a substitute for your hold off voltage.

Hi , use the 12v back-up battery in the panel as a substitute for your hold off voltage.

Hi, thanks for the quick response!!!

Can you explain in a little more detail for me of how to do this?

I installed the alarm 12 months ago but damaged the control panel casing when doing some home improvements! :( So this is the reason for replacing the panel. Thought I'd go for the standard Optima G3 as it looks more robust. As I done the installation 12 months ago I've gone a little rusty on the circuitry :hmm:

(Mind U just finished re-wiring the WHOLE house so not too bad!!)

The cables coming from the bell box are connected to the following connections on the panel:

T - SCB

A - SCB

D - BELL +

B - BELL -

STROBE +

STROBE-

Which ones shall I connect to the battery and in what order? (& is it then OK to disconnect everything and re wire the new panel. Then re connect the bell box?)

Sorry that I'm going on but my biggest fear is the bell box sounding and me not being able to deactivate it!

Many thanks, & great forum!
