Battery For Optima Compact G3

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just ordered a Optima Compact G3 which I intend to install as a replacement to an (aging) Logic4 control box.

Looking at the manual it states that the Optima needs a 12v 1.2Ah or 2.1Ah battery. I already have a new 12v 1.3Ah battery that I purchased not long ago, when I was fault finding with the Logic4. Would it be feasible to install the 1.3Ah battery in the Optima, does 0.1Ah make much difference.

Also during the switchover of systems I want to silence the outside siren for as long as possible. Would rather not have it ringing constant for a few hours!

To do this I originally intended to leave it wired to the Logic4 whilst i install the new control panel in a slightly higher position, but wondered if there would be a better way of doing this. E.g: Could I conect the two wires currently going to SCB A and SCB T together then connect the wires currently going to Bell+ D to the positive terminal of a battery and Bell- B to a negative terminal. Would this have the desired effect and keep the siren silent, or am I best sticking with the original plan.

I should point out that It will be very difficult for me to access the bell box to remove the internal battery from it, as it is 3 storeys up and we have since had an extension built which obscures ladder-access to the area.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks. Thats the news I was hoping to hear.

I'll try the trick with the battery to silence the siren.

I'll also make a visit to Maplins or somewhere to get myself a larger battery.
