PBX Switches

PBX Switches - Private Branch Exchanges, issues and installing tips/manuals

Hi All I'm new on here and I need some advice. I've been asked to add an exchange line to an existing samsung 816, and 3 extns. At present there are 1 exchange and aux and 2 extensions. I'm not a pabx expert but I am an experienced openreach engineer with some exposure to pabx's. Can I simply krone line 3 onto the block next to lines 1 and 2? Do I simply buy 3 more extn handsets and install 3 sockets for the additional extensions? Am I simply being naive if I think that's all there is to it Many thanks.

  2. We are trying to install a BT Versatility system at work and everything except incomming and outgoing communication seems to work. When we try to access either line 1 or line 2 on our feature phones we get a busy signal and resieze option, which does nothing. We have tested the wires to make sure they work and we have plugged in non-PBX phones to make sure that the phone line itself is working. We have tried to cold reboot the machine with and without the batterie attached and we have swithced the line priority to PSTN. We switched pin 2 and 5 on our wire to make sure that that isn't the problem. We removed the ISDN module to make sure that it wasn't interferring with t…

Hi, I have a small client with a GDK-16 installed. Done some PBX work previously, but not with this unit. Accessing CLI output? With it being a small hotel, they want to log calls being made. I have some neat software which will monitor and log CLI. Searching the internet, and spec's for the '16 says it can handle CLI... The unit has the MFB fitted, and I've hooked up a serial cable. As soon as it's connected, it asks for a password. Does anyone know the default password for this units? Or a way of resetting it to default? Further, can the serial on the MFB output the CLI information, or does the unit need another card? I activated SMDR to print messages, on t…

Hi Guys.., Wonder if anyone can can help. My existing BT inspiration went up in smoke during a lightning strike. I have purchased a replacement from ebay, but the password is not the default. Is there a way of hard resetting without using the system phone?? Or is there a bios chip I can swap between the 2?? I have contacted the seller but not had a reply as yet. Hope you can help. Many thanks Steve

Anyone familiar with this system? I have never worked on one. Been asked to quote to install 4 additional extensions to this system (6 yr old). There is no spare ports, just a single 6 port module is installed. I assume you just plug an addional 8 or 16 port module into the unit and get programming? I have also been asked if I can add addional lines too. I am assuming these can only be ISDN (they have taken it upon themselfs to have two PSTN lines installed ready!). The unit only has two BRI ports visible, can more be added to the main CCU, or is this an additional module again? Any litterature around? I could really do with the eng manual and programming guide t…

Hi Guys After installing/setting up my Revelation without a manual (took me at least a week), I thought that I pretty well knew this ccu inside out...however (and there is always at least one), when dialling out from an extension (other than 20...operator), after dialling the access code (9) and the number together and then opening the line, the system will dial and return the busy tone. If I open the line first and then dial the access code followed by the number, the ccu seems to time out very quickly and once again (unless I am super quick on the buttons), I get the busy tone. I can deal with this, but my dear beloved is climbing the walls and generally behaving in …

Just got me an LG GDK-16 KSU with 2x LKD-30D Key telephone units. The Programming Instructions make the unit look super complicated to set up. Might have a go at fitting it next weekend How is this unit rated for a small home phone exchange...?
