I've been to look at an enforcer which we fitted the other week, Alert present, turn off with subs code & it says "invalid tag" or similar "invalid tag" in the log, so I present their prox token & they all read okay, Open the front door (z01 programmed as final exit with chime) & the system chimes & the display changes to "unknown user, add code? yes / no" WFT!

Guys Setup a Galaxy Flex 20 and users want SMS so connected to the phone lines are usual, setup the message centre number and user mobile and the triggers INTRUDER and POWER with Sequence Number 1. Set the alarm off or removed fuse and no texts, so I setup SETTING Trigger and indeed texts come through for this when the panel is unset and set, proving the SMS is setup right. Why are they not coming through for INTRUDER or POWER. Is there any other settings im missing ? WD

Traditionally if a client wanted a panic alarm with police response we just added a panic button to their intruder alarm system (if they had one). We would apply for a URN and get it set up so that a press of the button would send in the calvary. With subjects like "lone-worker" safety becoming important, alternative technology platforms were set up to address this requirement. Now, it seems, their panic devices offer the same functionality as a Panic/HUA but at a fraction of the price. Ok, it doesn't come with an intruder alarm system but in a few of these cases, our clients don't require one. Am I missing something here or is this new way of deliveri…

I'm sure that iOn panels supprot the 720r (older) smoke detector - but can't get the iOn to learn either of mine. I have never used these before but the customer insisted for some reason. I hold down the button for 3 seconds, hear the 5 ticks, but the ion stays on 'activate tamper'. Of course, smokes have no tamper but the manual still says this is the way to learn them. The iOn has been out for nearly 8 years so I am dead certain the 720r is compatible, even thought it's just recently been superceded. In fact, here's the proof... http://www.touchpoint-online.com/content/720r-scantronic

Just upgraded my alarm at home to a Castle euro 46sm. My old alarm was a ck 700 , to which i added a visonic wireless pir and receiver for use in my caravan parked in front garden . I had the normally open going closed on the receiver to trigger the ptz preset on my cctv to swing round to the caravan , and the normally closed going open connected to my panel. Thus if the pir was triggered whilst the panel was unset the ptz would swing and send me email, but if the panel was set , it would trigger the intruder alarm as well. So , I am now trying do do a similar thing with the new alarm , I have a Castle euro 46sm with a wireless zem and a wireless pir in the van, looki…

Something came up today regarding the police showing serious concerns about the number of false alarms from system after an AC fail. It appears at the moment that there are either charging issues from panels/psu's not fully charging batteries and as such the systems then not meeting the required standby time. Or faulty batteries failing or massivly reducing rated capacity within a 2yr from install period. I know there was a discussion a bit ago about 17 A/h batts Anyone having these or similar issues?

I have a Siemens SPCE110 Key Switch Expander to install tomorrow but the installation leaflet that is supplied is very vague and i am not sure what this keyswitch even does. The panel is a SPC5000. Has anyone fitted one of these devices and if so can it be used a a shunt switch to isolate a single cct?

Seeing that other thread I have to ask Ungraded domestic, do you fit a spur or not? I've never installed one without a spur, simply because I think it's cowboy putting it on a plug top. But this might be why I don't win jobs as cutomers don't want the extra £80 for a spur.

I have a customer with a visonic alarm not sure which one as I havent been to look yet. Anyway he had some Albanian's valet his car and they cloned the key. They stole his car but he got it back. Now he is asking if there is anyway that he can attach his car to his house alarm. He could have a wirefree pir on the dash but he would need to at least part set the alarm, then theres the he has to remove the PIR in the morning and put it in the house otherwise the supervision goes off when he drives away. I can see it being a ball ache and I wouldnt entertain it only he has quite a few businesses with us. I am sure there will be someone with a bright idea here there normally i…
