After trawling through some of the requests for user manuals most of them seem to be from people who have bought houses with alarm systems already fitted and have not been given any info on the system on purchase is there no requirement for this basic information to be passed on to the new owner?

We all know that up and over doors are pants but what's the best alternative? Sectional or roller? Powered or manual? Which works best with an alarm and which stops the scum getting in with minimal damage? Security is my primary concern but convenience is my second, I don't want to spend three days unlocking the flippin' thing. I also need access from both sides of the door! Thanks guys.

I was finishing up a job yesterday when the customers friend called in and asked me would I replace a battery for them. I agreed and said that I would call around when I finished up. Got there and seen the Battery Fault Call Engineer message so I proceeded to replace the battery but when I removed the cover I noticed that all the wires connecting to the zone inputs were melted and some were shorting each other out. The wires came in at the top and the battery was at the bottom along with the trafo. The panel was an Astec, it's not available in the UK and is a two wire system. After spending most of yesterday roasting in a loft of a bungalow, with the perspiration dripping off of me like a basting chicken, I completed the day by unwittingly leaving dirty black marks on the customers white bathroom towel, despite vigorous soaping and swilling, (do you groan when you see a white or light coloured towel?) Anyway how do you keep cool and relaxed when you are working in the heat?

I'm thinking of doing this at night school at college to make myself more emplyable as I'm having a hard time convincing people I can do the job due to lack of on the job experience, even working free on a trial basis does'nt seem to persuade people. I'm looking mainly for opinions from employers. Would you hold someone who had a C&G in intruder alarms in higher regard than someone that did'nt? Any opinions from other people are welcome too. Thanks.
