I have ran the cables in and will second fix, then leave it to the contracted company to terminate and programme if it is impossible for me to do without knowing the eng code.

it will be and if you open it up, it will probably (should) lock out.

if you can imagine the problems that would occur on high security systems if anyone could just add or remove bits etc.

With respect you may still find that the contracted company will reject your work (not depending on how good it is)the problem you have is when there are false alarms on the detectors you've installed. The customer wont want to pay for call outs they're under warranty but not with the maintenance co, but you cant reset it.

Id go with James solution just the cables otherwise your opening up a can of worms

Mind you I would cancel the customers contract anyway I wont have tight customers.

I think thats a little unfair pete. In the best possible way etc. We do work with the client whete possible. We have done some large cctv projects where the clients on site electrical maint team have run cables, provided supplies etc.

Most London companies I know of allow the cables to be run by others. In fact one of the largest now refuse to 1st fix. Meerly providing a CAD drawing.

the point is, it is only a few detectors. Not worth the hassle, i wouldn't want the customer tbh.

I just don't like tight customers, I find if they are the type that want to save money getting the job done by a chap that saw a picture of an alarm system once, they are usually the type that moans whenever they get a bill. I dont want to be arguing about money all the time, I provide a service and my customers understand that, and those that dont can be someone else s problem.

I dont have a problem with anyone getting cables run or fitting power supplies fitted, especially if there contractor is there running cables anyway, so long as the contractor is under our instruction on how and where the cables are run, thats fair enough.
