  1. One major difference between a proper system and a DIY system is there is no easy way to defeat them or decommission without making a racket... There is a second hand market for most things. I would suggest you reconsider carefully, removing a working system to replace for DIY is false economy.
  2. Most likely. System will tamper when the voltage becomes very low but would have to check log as well. As pointed out the log will be vague on something so basic. Check the charging rate and replace battery would be sensible.
  3. There are multiple older versions of apps for Texe all with different T&Cs. What are we calling "tons", there is much more to business than knowing how the kit works. When your taking over this user installed tat, your taking on it's liabilities as well.
  4. So you agree to the terms and conditions that your an installer and that they have the right to revoke and delete any accounts that are found not to be an installation company? Sounds sensible...
  5. Maybe it's possible older versions of software didn't support it. Rarely seen a 690 mostly fitted 790+ upwards. You'll find it can be mounted inside the keypad upside down... You'd need a working one to test. They usually beep/click at any tag programmed or not, but they are fussy and don't have a good range.
  6. Need registered installer account login since V2. Anything DIY like Yale is junk and will not last. Either prioritise decent maintained alarm system or don't bother IMO.
  7. It's been a while but IIRC, TS690 was a domestic panel separate from the rest of the Network range. Usually + denoted DD243/Prox tags (ie TS900+) but I believe the TS690 did support tags (or at least I remember a version that did), as it replaced the TS700. Did you have tags before? Have you installed the reader correctly? Was it powered down when you installed it? How are you learning the tags? Are the tags or reader duff? OOI how much was this museum find of a keypad?
  8. If definitely a speaker it could be a bell delay, either way it's probably programming
  9. Not fitted many Powermaster's but I don't believe they have the voice feature any more. The beeping for part set should be in the options.
  10. It's default settings are to be internal only for part set. The sounder you speak of is likely wired from the bell terminals so neither are being triggered on part set.
  11. You can get ones that do all the common bands so it blocks any tracker in the vehicle too. 2.4G/5GWifi, GPS, 2/3/4/5G cells, lojack. Sold as "8 band jammer".
  12. Welcome to the pain of an unmaintained system. Even on other systems like you mention it would only cancel this noise for a period maybe 4 hours.
  13. I have said before it doesn't surprise me. There are currently 666 records on NVD related to Hikvision, most of these will be historical or duplicates for different products but how many DVR/NVR/IPC's do people go back to and update or replace? Every patch if you look back just seem like a reactive quick fix, some not so quick... It maybe better than DIY junk that's exploitable OOTB but they are suppose to be the market leader... cheap sells...
  14. If you are not sure where you start you probably shouldn't DIY. It will involve working at height, deafening noises and the possibility of electrocution. There is no magic button or code to disable them, in fully working order they are designed to be tamper proof, triggering the sounders if you mess about. If you are certain you won't want an alarm going forward have someone to decommission it or consider having them look at it regarding servicing or upgrading. They do need regular maintenance to work properly so also consider that if you keep it.
  15. They get bored watching Youtube now it's all TikTok innit...
  16. Optex good sensors. Check about with your local council about planning permission if they enable a backlit box, they are technically an illuminated sign an require planning if they have a logo. It's not something people are aware about, even many installers. Light can be disabled if they will do that.
  17. You don't really explain your issue or ask a question. A 48-W has the wireless builtin so it makes little sense to be adding expanders to it. Radio keypads use a lead to enroll if you have no other keypad access. Explain the details of the current system and what exactly your trying to do. What you have done or not, etc.
  18. Best ... as in, a product with a rattly buzzy transformer and also heatmarks top left as the plastic ages... has only 8 zones ... limited options for everything programming (input or output)... LED display... inadequate event log... In it's day it was fine for your basic/terraced house. Wouldn't think about fitting one, just maintenance if it was still fit for purpose.
  19. The app isn't designed to be setup by a user, you are talking about the installation experience not the end user experience. IMO they are all a waste of time, everything of a certain value has to have an app in modern society to justify it as a product... I haven't had any issues setting up Texecom apps but I'll say again... it doesn't matter which, it's the installers services you need the assurance from as they'll choose the kit. Everyone has a different opinion on what is best manufacturer but if your not switching installer it will not matter, they should know the product they fit inside out.
  20. As much as price is a consideration you need to have confidence in the company, it will vary based on a number of factors including area. It's a service industry not a fitting industry you want ongoing support not fit and run...
  21. I had the exact same story before Covid, ENT can't find anything but regularly got tinnitus which to me is a "hum", the more you think about it the more it comes back. After several years of this I can say you seem to just block it out most of the time. The more you worry about it the more you can trigger it.
  22. My first thoughts are Tinnitus which could be triggered while being at home. It would be good to isolate your own electrics like above to see if it's something around your home. It's difficult to describe these sounds but the way you say "humming" makes me think of classic 50Hz transformer hum which would most likely be in your house if that's the case. The frequencies used by access points 2.4Ghz> and alarm systems 868Mhz are everywhere. It wouldn't make sense to have the symptoms be just at your home plus any of the shelf product would be EMC compliant. Do you even know if the neighbours security systems are wireless? If they are not then there would be no radiation from it. These dirty electric blockers you mention are most likely a placebo, best case they are an array of MOV's or capacitors to slightly filter a nearby mains supply, fine to clean up a sine wave but very unlikely to remove an "audible noise".
