I have had a couple of double-glazed lounge windows shattered by airgun pellets. What are the legal restrictions in setting up a concealed camera to record people on the pavement (about 15 ft. from the windows) ? Am I allowed to cover the pavement, the road and the far pavement ? If not, what other action could I take? The police advise that it is most likely a one-off and I won't be considering action unless it happens again. Any advice anyone ?

Morning gents, We’ve been pushing hard to migrate most of our commercial clients away from legacy Wiegand and over to OSDP v2 (Secure Channel) for the obvious encryption benefits. However, I'm running into a frustrating real-world issue. In a perfect lab environment, the RS-485 backbone handles the two-way OSDP handshake beautifully. But on actual retrofits—where we are forced to reuse the client's existing, ancient 22/6 untwisted alarm wire—I'm noticing a slight, but perceptible, latency when swiping the card before the door actually fires. It feels like the reader and controller are struggling with packet loss/retries over the degraded cable b…

Hi, Just purchased a CCTV camera with a Sony IMX317 sensor and a 2.8-12 C mount lens. Brand is 'ELP'. At nearly all focal lengths there are dark patches at the edges of the image. See attached. These edges disappear when you zoom in (10-12mm). Has anyone seen this issue before and know what causes it? The lens has 1/2.5" printed on it, and the IMX317 sensor is listed as 1/25" also, so it's either; 1) A badly made lens, or 2) The lens it mounted incorrectly (it is screwed all the way in), or 3) All 2.8 varifocal wide angle lenses look like this. This normally happens if the sensor size is lar…

I was wondering if it’s possible to replace a faulty Videx keypad rather than the whole intercom as just 2 of the buttons which are part of the code have worn down over time It’s a GSM model as the customer tells me it calls their mobile phone I’ve attached a photo for reference and any help greatly appreciated I can go there and remove the keypad if an exact model number is needed to look up a suitable replacement

A friend our mine feels their neighbour could be jamming the audio of her Ring camera whenever they are outside on the driveway nextdoor Video records fine and playback with audio works at all other times when anyone triggers the motion recording except Nextdoor I am wondering if it could be a setting on the app rather than something actually jamming the audio Has anyone heard of such a thing before?

Any iseas as to why this would stop working? I am considering installing a new PoE switch to replace the splitter, would this work?

I've recently had work done on our house and forgot to tell the builder about the cable to one of our cameras that was buried in our garden and it's well and truly knackered, rather than have the ball ache of recabling it I've just found something that I think might might work as we have another camera that's close by, has anyone used them and are they reliable as it seems quite cheap for what it does? My current Hikvision cameras are quite old, they are 3MP turrets and the IR is pretty rubbish at night so I'm thinking of replacing them at some point. Are the newer Acusense Hikvision turrets any better?

I wanted to come up with a privacy solution for having CCTV in the home and back garden that possibly captures more of me than ARC staff care to see. I wouldn’t mind being seen in any state, during an emergency such as PA triggered or intruder at night, but generally prefer the cameras not to be viewable. My solution was fairly simple and didn’t require any expensive equipment. On arm (day or night) or panic, an output switches a relay. The relay powers a low powered Ethernet switch that provides a connection from the DVR’s second LAN output through to a Ubiquiti router. A firewall rule only allows external traffic to that second LAN port, thus if …

Hello, I have Optima CCTV system at home and one of my sensors in the room is not working, the light is always on rather than only when sensing something. When entering the code before leaving home, system wont engage unless I omit that zone. Does it mean I need to replace the sensor or is there a way to fix/reset it? Power off and on didnt work. Thank you Ove
