  1. Well, seems the signs are still popping up, spotted some at Wilderspool Morrison's. Still has the NSI logo on. Will have to get a shot next time I am round there, not as good at hiding behind a HP bottle as Matt is.
  2. An additional power supply is not required and you do need the correct expander card. I would still use Low Current and/or SCB mode on the bell myself to reduce the current drawn by the sounder. The expander card comes with instructions, it requires an EOL resistor in the sounder but other than that it's simple. Yes, the GSM sends the same type of signals as PSTN, text message have zone information which is good. You have to set them up correctly with test signal enabled otherwise the SIM will expire. This is a one-way systems so not the most secure, would have to be a low risk site IMO.

  7. I'd always wire one 8 cored cable to each detector, even if you are only using 4 cores. Screened cable is not required for anything on Texecom and yes IMO it is top quality stuff. Smokes could be wired together on Latch but TBH it's not worth messing about like that. Stick with one zone, one device, one cable. It seems extra keypads have been mentioned I would say one upstairs on the landing will be handy. It means in the night if the alarm activates you can locate the room before storming down the stairs. One in the garage maybe pointless if it's not large enough for a car. Maybe you could install the Hall keypad on the Hall/Garage wall then you only have to drill through to install a keypad in the future. Remember any final exit door should have a contact on it to trigger the Final Exit. Obviously cables installed to places for future expansion is handy but it depends how much protection you need. Have you thought about a fixed PA button in the master bedroom or adj front door?
  8. I agree with above too. Speakers up and down for the system tones. Positions look good, use Quad PIR's for the house and a DT in the garage. Depending on the garage door it's best to use a roller shutter type for this Also bear in mind how much current all that will take, you may require a PSU. You may as well use a Premier PSU200XP as you are already over 8 zones.
  9. Why are the sensors in the middle of some rooms? The kitchen isn't covered, I'd put one on the landing too myself. Smoke in the downstairs hall? Use a DT in the Garage Any pets we should know about? Nice drawings BTW.
  10. Are you sure? Why would Red remove there NSI logo from the site if NSI hadn't already told them off
  11. It seems they have removed the NSI logo from there website after this thread started. It still doesn't make up for all the site signs kicking about with NSI logo on.
  12. Definitely Here's a couple of old links that may answer your question. http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/40-nacossssaib/ http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/2269-nacoss-ssaib/
  13. Well as a rough guide wireless contacts are more than double the size in all directions (x, y and z) of an old wired surface contact. Anytime www.texe.com/uk :cough: Both are not very common so possibly hard to find installers? As I said earlier different companies like different manufacturers, some less common than others Differently higher end kit than Enforcer or Powermax tho. Exactly. You wouldn't want to force a company to fit a non-supported product or for you to be there guinea pig site. Yep I agree. Another plus is it's all English. Some of us in the trade have been round and watched the stuff get built.
  14. No definitely not. It's nice to have someone asking sensible honest questions here. Normally it's "I broke my alarm help me fix it now for nothing"...anyway... --- Obviously 2 way wireless is better than 1 way but the cost will be greater, you will be able to see this from the costs in the quotes. It all depends on the risk of the property. The main pro to the 2 way is the added security of knowing your signals have been received at the panel. Also faults will be displayed instantly whereas on a 1 way a fault may take several hours to appear depending on polling times etc. I think our resident JW put it best... If something important gets lost in the post you'll wish you had sent it recorded. Also not included in your OP is 2 way wireless mesh like the Texecom Ricochet range. This "mesh" means the sensors can talk to each other not just the panel. However, in smaller houses you could there is no benefit to this. Other pros are 2 way can benefit from greater battery life due to the panel being able to put sensors to sleep while disarmed and switch LED's on and off remotely. Not all 2 way panels will do this but it's possible so bear it in mind. The kit should be equally as reliable from a parts going faulty POV, some alarm companies prefer certain manufacturers over others. Personally I'd look at the Texecom 12-W, for example. As for size of the devices that's personal preference, have you not had a company round with a demo kit to see the devices in the flesh? I would want to see the property before quoting to assess the risk, it's ok to give an estimate over the phone but you could be over looking something. Very sensible.
  15. IIRC on an ELite 24 the default programming for Pin 3 is Intruder Alarm.
  16. Digicom Output 3 if you don't fancy doing any programming.
  17. Well If you have followed the wiring instructions correctly I don't see how there is a problem. I can only guess the bells triggered due to loosing Hold-Off voltage or incorrect wiring. I would read the instructions again carefully and follow them exactly. Engineer mode on the panel will not stop the bells triggering, there is a special way to trigger engineer mode on Texecom bells, this is explained in the manual.

  19. Spotted one of there signs in Neston, Chesire with the NSI logo on and thought I'd do some snooping. Displaying the old NSI logo on website. However, company doesn't appear on NSI Approved Companies list. Love the disclaimer.... http://www.redcctv.co.uk/ts-cs.aspx
