As I said I dont think Scotland will be able to Police it and so it will be pretty much the same as the UK, ie a fatal fire is investigated and its found that the homeowner did not have interlinked smoke detectors. Mind you if the fatality is the homeowner the gov cant exactly fine them

New Scottish law says that has to be installed into all existing buildings. Feck knows how they think they are going to Police that though. Colin I do understand that you wife doesnt like the idea of wireless, there are several theories that wireless is the root of all evil. However, the wireless smoke detectors are not transmitting wireless signals all the time, they only transmit when they are activated. So in other words when you have a fire in the hallway it transmits to the landing so both detectors activate. When there are no fires there is no wireless signal so nothing to worry about, I hope this helps

Tamper is a 24 hour circuit designed to let you know if someone is tampering with the alarm. If a cable is damaged, the bell is damaged, detectors or door contacts are damaged the alarm will go off. Soak test is used for testing a circuit, for example a detector activates and you see no environmental reasons for the activation, you can put the circuit on soak. It will log activations but it wont alarm. So when you return check the log if it hasnt activated you can take it off soak

I have a garage which although wireless isnt keyless, its also alarmed. My key never leaves my pocket which means its not that close to the outside world, Ive seen the vids. My worry is going on holiday and parking it at the hotel, Ive been mostly lucky with my hotel rooms so far though high enough to be out of reach, but still able to see the carpark from the room. The fezza isnt keyless but it isnt that practical for anything other than a weekend away

HKC have a wireless Dualtech now its much better for hostile environments like sheds and garages

Tamper means exactly that the lid has come off something, or if hwired the cable may be damaged hkc will normally verbally tell you the fault "tamper zone 3"
