I recently had to switch off the power to my Omega 5 alarm due to a burst water pipe (two hours before a holiday) . I powered it back on two weeks later but it had appeared to have lost the user codes. I guessed the default code as

Hi My parents have just moved into their new house, the Young lad who lived there before let the place go to ruin and it needs a lot of work on it. My dad found a burglar alarm in a cupboard in the kitchen covered in grease but all wired up and it does work by the looks of it. He asked the kid who lived there before but he said it was there when he moved in and didn't know the code and had never used it (He also didn't know where the gas meter was or the key for the back door but hey). There was a piece of paper and a manual next to it, the paper is below. Anyone got any advice as to how he finds out the code or does anyone know how he gets hold of an engineer to wipe…

I am trying to find someone who knows how to program FAI Security Guard systems to accept the signal from a new electronic key. I have been able to obtain a users manual however, it does not provide any detailed information on this. I hope someone can help me. Connie.

Hi, I need a little help with regard to adding a bellbox to my alarm system. I live in Spain, and the system was installed by a national company called Prosegur when the house was built. They do not generally install an external bellbox - instead they prefer you to connect the alarm to their central monitoring station. We have chosen not to do this and would like to add an external bellbox instead. The control panel is a Solution Ultima (Bosch, Detection Systems?). Can you recommend a good bellbox (and where to buy it from) and also explain how easy they are to install? I have a little bit of experience in the past of installing DIY wired alarm systems but that is …

I have an accenta 8 alarm. The mains power was switched off by the plumber for an hour. When powered up again the strobe light activated. I tried to reset system on keypad but day and power indicators were off. I checked and am getting 13v power supply to keypad. I have checked the four internal fuses on the control panel and they are ok. Can anyone help me?

It has started to set the alarm sounding everytime the outside temperature drops below freezing. This happens even when the alarm has not been set. I found this web forum by chance and it looks like a great place for some advice. Basically I manage a residential CCTV System with internal and external cameras, which operate 24 hours per day. This is fine for security but occasionally I have incidents, which I need to check the images for E.G. damage done outside of viewing such as stair wells or refuse lobbies, which can be tricky as I have no indication when there was someone in that area so I have to view a large time frame. Since having my time lapse recorders changed to Mitsubishi HS-1096 and playing back on a Panasonic AG- 6730 I can not perform a quick review of video tapes so have to play back in real time wh…

I'm living in Belgium and I have installed in the same telephone line a Aritech 72 alarm system and an ADSL connection. Before the alarm connection I have used a Basic ADSL filter. Both systems are working but I have some performance problems with my ADSL connecton. I can download until 1.9Mbps of the 3.3Mbps that are available. Belgacom (Telephony provider) recommends that has to install an additional filter before at the time that the line enters the house. Until taday I try to find someone to explain what this filter is about without any chance. Doe anyone know what this filter is doing. Do you think that the ADSL packet losses are comming from the alarm? Thanks in…

As an experienced security installation company we have been installing the ADE Karisma Plus control panel for many years without any problems. We must have several hundred panels out there, and we have recently encountered problems when the Karisma Plus was connected to the Pyronix Twin Alert sounder. Namely, the panels speaker output is being blown (and is unrepairable). Initially we assumed this was a one off but we now have seven panels (most of which are less than two years old) which have had their speaker outputs blown when connected to a Twin Alert. Installation over this period was done using Twin Alerts or CQR SOINT1 speakers, depending what was in stock, and…

Dear all, Any comments, pros and cons, on whether to use Accenta panel fire zones with fire sensors and extended speakers, or whether to install independant linked detectors (mains with rechargable batteries). I think that the limit of two speakers with the panel may be a problem, ie getting the sensors around this house is not a problem, but getting the alarm sound all over with only the two additional speaker allowed would be a problem (the one in the panel can not be counted as one because of its location and it is also hidden away and as such muffled). Regards Steve
