Well, for the second time this year I had my car broken into last night. This time though its wasnt kids trying to steal the radio (like it was last time) but they actually tried to steal the car. They smashed the steering lock mechenism and ripped out the ignition system. They also managed to break into the car without causing a great deal of damage, obviously used to specialist tools. Needless to say they didnt manage to get away with it because the immobiliser mechanism built into the engine management system stopped them, but the damage will run into a few hundred quid. So needless to say, I require advice on vehicle security, as I have no idea what so ever as to how …

The company that we have been covered with for the past 2 or 3 years have decided to take the commercial decision to pull out of the type of intruder alarm cover that we require. Could anyone point me in the direction of company's that offer cover to intruder alarm firms? Thanks, Andy

Hi, I have a Accenta G3 Mini panel that was recently fitted. I am in the middle of decorating and disconnected one of the PIRs. I have now replaced the PIR and everything is wired up as it should be. However, on the RKP the tamper light is flashing and if I press reset it just locks up and won't let me do anything. If I disconnect the mains and battery from the panel the RKP works again but won't let me arm the panel or anything else for that matter, as the tamper light still flashes. I can't even program it to disable the zone. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Mark.

My neighbour's Optima XM6 went off yesterday after a momentary power cut and then it wouldn't turn off. After I volunteered to have a look at it, I found out how to fix the locked-up panel from this excellent forum - switched off, fitted new battery, reset... Thanks guys! However, now that the control panel is working fine again, the bell box no longer works - and it certainly did yesterday, at full volume! I have checked the supply to the bell box (12V) and the trigger signal works (12V dropping to 0V on trigger). The voltage across the 2 wires supplying the speaker itself seems to be only about 3.5V. I don't have any information on what the supply voltage to the speak…

Does anyone know what the Britannia BSA 16 intruder system is all about? Is this a Scantronic 9100? and if so how can I find a circuit diagram for it?

I have a friend who has an Accenta 8 Mini panel and the tamper spring on the main box keeps tripping the tamper circuit. I have tried expanding the spring but over time it returns to normal size and trips in and out. My friend is doing his nut and wants it taken out. Will linking out the tamper zone and the RKP tamper zone do the job? I know it will disable the rest of the tamper zone of the detectors but I need a bit of breathing space to let him calm down.

Hi We have a young lad working with us, who has shown competance accompanying our engineers on installs. He is mighty keen and I'd like to give him the chance to develop onto leading installations/servicing etc. I can't seem to find any suitable training courses in the East Lancashire area to supplement what he learns in-house, does anyone know of anything? Andy.

I have recently swapped an Optima XM for a Citadel XR2. The replacement is fine but I am getting problems when adding a PIR and a window sensor to the Citadel. The PIR is a Texecom Petwise PIR. Once installed all is OK on walktest but fails to activate the alarm when set. The zone is set as 'security'. LED lights up when in day mode. The window sensor is an Everspring SA-219 Glassbreak sensor. I have wired this into a zone but will not activate. I have tried setting the zone as 'security', 'PTS' and 'Keyswitch' but none works. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

Recently had my system revived (abacus panel) with new battery and bell box module. Now 2 weeks on the bell box rings for a second or two every 5 or so minutes. The strobe also flashes. I was led to believe these symptoms mean a depleted bell battery? Also was told it is dampness and to leave it over w/end and see how it goes. After a day of 'tinkling' I pulled the fuse and disconnected battery and bell. If I reconnect will the system function at user level and can anybody confirm what fault these symptoms may indicate?

Hi, I don't work in the security industry, but am looking for some help. I have an Adpro VST 10CA (rack mounted) that I am looking to have repaired to replaced. I have contacted Vision Systems Limited, who were very nice and polite, but were unable to help directly, but suggested I contacted a UK security distributer. I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of someone who would be able to assist me. Thanks Nick Davies
