  1. Started by borris,

Just got home and the fella next door has collared me. He has a security light outside with a passive on it, and the bulbs have started blowing every 3 or 4 weeks. As I've never had anything to do with security lighting I was hoping someone could give us a few pointers. I've checked to make sure there's no leaky earths and the like, but I can't find anything wrong (apart from the bulbs blowing!!). Any clues received with many thanks from a kind old man, the guy next door not me!

I am presently installing a house alarm. The internal control panel technical manual gives wiring diagrams for the connection of sensor circuits, keypad, internal sounder and external sounder & strobe box to the control panel. The problem is the external sounder & strobe box wiring diagrams doesn't match up, there's 5 terminals in the sounder and 6 terminals in the control panel. The external alarm box has the following inputs/outputs: 1) Strobe trigger ST-, 2) Tamper return TR-, 3) Sounder trigger S-, 4) Positive supply V+, 5) Negitive supply V-. The internal control panel has the following inputs/outputs: 1) Tamper return, 2) Sab Hold, 3) External bell + &am…

a while ago I opened a topic called connecting bell boxes.. got some excellent feedback from pete @ wakefield security.. In Pete's reply he give me a solution to my problem but said I would need to check the output current consumption for the bell boxes in alarm condition, and make sure they don't exceed the total current value. I checked the current values (in alarm condition) and for the 2 boxes and the internal sounder it came to 1.09A but the bell board is rated @ 1A.. As it's just over the rating can I just put a high rated fuse in the board or do I have to use the other solution that Pete give me, which was to use an external power supply tripped by a relay ???

We are a Canadian manufacturer with a new alarm system add-on product called PeaceMaker. I'd like to hear your opinions on our product. We're also looking for a UK distributor. Please give me some feedback. PeaceMaker is an intelligent alarm siren disrupter. It easily attaches to the siren wire of any new or existing alarm system (home, business, or car) and temporarily silences extended or repeated siren soundings typical of false alarms. Please have a look at our web site at www.peacemaker.ca The purpose of PeaceMaker is to shut off the siren if something goes wrong with an alarm system. It is effectively an independent watchdog for the alarm system. It reduces…

Firstly, apologise if I've posted this question to the wrong forum, Secondly, this may sound like a basic question, but, when a panel goes into an alarm condition through a detector being tripped or entry time out or whatever, how does the bell box know to sound the siren?. Is it the Bell Hold- that is switched so tripping a relay or is that part of the bell tamper circuit with the SAB TAMP? in the case with Gardtec panels is this also part of the global tamp circuit? Again sorry if it

Ive been looking at a few panels and basically have a control small criteria for what i require : 1: want to be able to dial in from a mobile or from work and control the system 2: dial in and send a signal to the control unit to activate a speaker with a pre recorded warning message 3: obvioulsy be relaible and stable for the shock sensors that r currently being installed 4: recieve a msg on my mobile warning me of a possible break in and then be able to listen into the property to verify its authenticity. 5 : be able to integrate it into a home automation sys…

Hi all Please can you help. I have recently moved into a new house and the owner has left without leaving a manual. I have used the internet to get by with simple things like changing the user codes etc, but I have recently hit a brick wall with one problem. I left the power off to the alarm for over 24 hours accidently (thought it would beep or warn me !). Anyway since then my remote keypad in the hall has stopped responding. Every time I enter or leave the house I have to use them main Omnicron box which the previous owner installed in the upstairs airing cupboard. As you will understand this is a bit of a pain ! When I first noticed the problem the remote keypad …

I want to add an internal SAB sounder to my system. What I would like to know is where is the best place to place it within the house. (two bed terraced house). Should I just place it near the entrance? Or should I try to hide it so it is more difficult to disable? The model is elmdene 676.002.053. I have a galaxy 8 system (bells only) and an external SAB sounder aswell. Thanks Mike
