Hi All, In the past, I've developed both hardware and software for standard 125kHz RF-ID devices. Currently I'm looking for a simple RF-ID address recognition that when detected will open/close a contact depending upon it's current state. Does anyone out there know of such a unit that's of reasonable price (sub £30). If not, stay tuned and I'll develop my own again. Regards IEB www.smshield.com (Whilst you were out, was someone else in?)

A couple of days ago I came home and my alarm had gone off with the tamper light showing as RED, keyed in code and after a few pushes of reset, which didn't appear to want to work the box bleeped and everything was OK. Came home from work yesterday and alarm had gone of again, keyed in code, pressed reset and the keypad froze, tamper light still showing. Downloaded manual and attempted to reset, found when powered off and took cover off that a wire was missing from 19, but loose in box. When I disconnected the battery nothing happened, apparantly alarm completely frozen. Connected apparant loose wire to 19, reconnected battery, replaced cover and powered up, then did r…

Hi, A quite happy for a looooong time GardTec alarm has now started with a request for an engineering code. Apparently, the installers sometimes clobber these boxes with a timeout to ensure people are kept 'on contract'. Done by changing the engineering code to begin with a 9. Is this correct? Can the box be reset - factory default (with default codes)? Apparently, if I take LK1 out, I get a two-week grace period? I'm thinking of just replacing the whole panel. Any thoughts?

Just updated a Galaxy system, client had done building work so bell box needed to be moved. Best new location for bellbox was high on gable end but very close (about a foot) from a Sky satellite dish. He is now complaining of interference on Sky TV and (along with his satellite installer) blaiming the alarm installation. I can't see it although to be fair the alarm cable isn't screened, also when I did a test activate of the alarm the "interference" didn't change. If push comes to shove I'll get my ladders out and move it although anywhere else on the house would be a bit low. Has anyone else come across issues/interference when a bellbox and satellite dish are close t…

The cable was reconnected but the tamper light remains on. I can no longer use the alarm due to this function. Please help, I am really stuck. I look forward to hearing any suggestions.

Happy New Year to all, I am using a Menvier (Cooper) TS690 panel along with NETLCD remote keypads and an SD1+ Speech Dialer. I would also like to use a laptop whilst I am away from the property to remote dial into the system. I understand that I require a DC6 Digi-Modem and Lineload software? Does anyone have experience of using the DC6 and/or Lineload software? many thanks, SimonB

Hi, I am using a Menvier (Cooper) TS690 panel along with NETLCD remote keypads and an SD1+ Speech Dialer. An alarm condition occurred recently, the external sounder in the bell box worked for 20 minutes then reset (as per system timer 06 - Bell Duration), but the sounder within the remote keypad kept going (for over two days until I returned to the property). I can't find a timer which sets the internal sounder on the remote keypad. Is there one? many thanks in advance, SimonB

Please please help. My optima 2 plus alarm system bleeps loudly (the same noise it makes if you activate a sensor whilst waiting for it to set) when I enter into one of the zones protected by a PIR. Zone 3 is my kitchen and each time I move they system bleeps loudly but doesn't set off the main alarm. I get the number 3 on my display and I need to hit reset to clear it. It works fine when it is turned on and alarms as normal. Can anyone help as I have lost my instruction book also! On the up side I know when my son is trying to eat chocolate biscuits without my permission!! Alan_James

Hi all!, I`ve been reading alot of posts lately about alarm systems with flat/worn out batteries... Which got me thinking.....Why don`t alarm panels have battery test electronics built in? The alarm panel could do a test periodicaly and signal user somehow if the battery failed.... Are the electronics too expensive to make this possible???? Obviously an alarm should be serviced anyway and this would be picked up as part of this....but using the above method you would get called out and then you can educate people they need their alarm checked regulary.... Or am I just being plain stupid? ) Michael

Hi, Can any one assist please. I had a situation where my keypad on my 10 year old Optima XL6 failed to make any noises when entering my codes. I have bought a relacement main battery, after testing batterys in panel and bellbox. Replacing battery made no difference. fault traced to small printed circuit that runs from the back of keypad to pcb connector. much corrossion (high resistance) removed and system now working again. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for this printed circuit wiring? Or is it a case of replacing the unit? If so, will the OPTIMA G3 be a good replacement/straightforward swop over? Thanks in advance, from a very compitant DIYer

Does anybody deal with door locks on this site? I am looking for a lock for a front door that requires a combination to open it. The door in question opens outwards rather than inwards. The lock is required for a disabled person who cannot manage to turn a key in a lock. Home Care workers visit the house a number of times during the day but are not allowed to have a key to the property - rules of the local Council. Consequently somebody has to be at the house to allow the Care workers access. Illness to the disabled person's husband has shown up this problem - normally he would be there but has recently had to go into hospital. If some form of combination lock was in…
