I am currently having a problem with my alarm system, please could someone help me resolve this issue. The outside alarm went off when the alarm system was not set and I was unable to turn off the siren from the control panel. To stop this happening I have disconnect the battery and the sounder. The control panel and internal alarm still orks correctly. When the alarm sounded the strobe did not falsh and did not sound the same. My equipment is an Accenta 8 mini Intruder Alarm Control System with an Sonade 2000 sounder strobe unit. Does anyone know what the fault with my system is and how to resolve the problem? I have thought that this maybe a battery fault however I …

I'm planning a DIY alarm installation at home and trying to get the best advice I can before proceeding. My control unit will be securely hidden away but I can't decide where to put the remote keypad near the main exit door. The best location seems to be on the wall opposite the front door, but this is directly visible through the letterbox only 1.5m away and at almost the same height so could be prodded at by a long object, though the keypad does have a flip-down cover. Is this a problem, and are there any guidelines for the best locations to meet ergonomic and security concerns? I guess anyone poking through the door is likely to trigger the PIR that will cover the h…

I have an Optima 2 plus alarm system fitted, for which I have no information (the previous owners never used it) I would like to know how to set it up from scratch, I removed the front panel, in an attempt at finding manufacture information and of course triggered the tamper alarm., after rmoving mains and battery power the outside siren continued to go off, so I cut the wire to it.I has been sitting without power for a while now and am keen to try and get it going. Hi guys, I have been offered (new boxed with instructions and installation manuals) either a Scantronics 9750 or a 9800+. I would like to install the kit myself, or at least attemp to do so. I have checked the Scantronics web site and they no longer mention the 9750 but refer to the 9751. Is there anything i should be aware of in respect to the 9750? Was it discontinued for a reason? I do not want to buy a pup. I know that the 9750 has wirefree caperbility but that aside which alarm would you go for. The 9750 or the 9800? Great informative web site. I have sifting through the pages for a while now and you offer a lot of assistance to a lot of people. Thank you …

i have the full manuel for the security guard II & still cannot work it out, it only tells you a few basics, how to turn it on off dissarm arm flat battery etc but when it comes to the other menues PP,P1 P2 etc. etc. etc.it says that these are for the installing technician to programme for you so it does not explain them at all so basically the manuel is pretty usless to you. i have sat there for hours changing things & wrighting them down etc & have gotten nowhere yet. if ya want a copy of the manuel it would probably cost about $5-10 to photocopy & send i dont have a scanner my email rdamer@hotkey.net.au the manuel is about a dozen large (A3) pages

Hi My alarm system in the Optima XL6 version, which no doubt is some years old now, but TBH it has been reliable. Anyway over the last week, I have been experiencing intermittent alarm conditions with the TAMPER FAULT part of the system. I first noticed the issue, when I accidentally knocked one of the PIR on Zone 3 during removal of wall paper, which sounded an alarm cndition in the same mode. Having stopped the internal siren, the keypad locked out but eventually reset itself. Ever since then, the same fault activates whenever it seems to take its fancy at all times of the day and night without anyone touching the PIR's etc... The final straw was 4am this morning…

A Homewatch 418 FM Wireless system was installed around 1997 and several tennants later it's not working! The key fobs arm & disarm the central unit (which is hardwired to a bell box). I've checked that the DIL switches are all coded the same and replaced the batteries in each of the 3 PIRs (last recorded change 1999!). Two of the three PIR's worked intermitantly and the bell box sounded ok, but these have now stopped working completely and the third PIR never worked. Do PIR's deteriorate - do they need cleaning? How do you check if the bell box battery is ok? Can you recommend anything to get it working? Thanks Landlord

Hello all, along with all the other rules and regs we are taking on board. I now have to get a CSCS card, this is easy enough in the first instance but will only last for five years when to replace it I will require an NVQ. As an engineer who has been in this business longer than I care to remember, I have no paper qualifications and no desire to sit in class room listening to a guy who really knows nothing about this industry except the rules. Any one got any ideas how to go about getting these pieces of paper. PS, just found this site, first impressions it seems great, why havent I seen it before :
