Hello everyone, great forum Just a quick question I am sure someone can answer I have a ADE (8 zone one - 7amp battery) in quite a large house out in the middle of country, problem being I am not sure if I am asking to much of the system in regards to the siren output, currently I have a texecom external and a internal sound bomb (and 2 speakers... ) - was looking to put up another external sounder - is this too much to ask from this type of system? any ideas on limits? Many thanks Tony

To anyone who can help, I have an Optima 2 Plus home alarm system (10 years old) which has suddenly stopped working. There is now a continuous bleep from the keypad and the keypad itself won't accept either my personal code or the factory setting code. I have been advised it could be that the battery in the control panel is dead but that, if I try to replace it myself, it could set off the alarm and I may not be able to reset it (upsetting for my neighbours). Q Does this sytem have some sort of tamper protection that will set of the alarm if I try to open the control box to replace the battery? What should I do (other than call out an engineer)? , Fergmeister.

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me. I moved into a house some time ago which has an FAI security guard 2 installed. Problem is that it came without a battery charger. I have since sourced one and tried it out however it still does not work. I then sourced a new battery, however now i cannot work out how to actually open the front cover. Is there some trick to this or should i just be pulling it harder. I just don't want to break it. Any help would be appreciated, Zed.

Wondered if anyone had installed any wristband PA transmitters, the only one I can find is Visonic Powercode wrist transmitter. Currently I use a Scantronic 4612 with pendant transmitters, but as far as I can see Scantronic don't do one??? Views on Visonic's pa transmitters would be great Rich

Hello Wondering if anyone can help? I am wondering how to wire up my mystery bell box? I am trying to connect it to a Castle Care-Tech Meridian CT3050. The outputs on the panel (and inputs!) are HO+, HO-, SABT, BELL-, STR- and the unknown OP10. The ins and outs on the bell are BT-, ST, TR, TS, ENG, +R, -R, +H, -H, BT+. On the bell there are two tamper switches one for the wall mounting and one for the face panel. There is a strobe, two sounders and two ultra bright LEDs. There is a loose fly lead labelled FL1 which is connected directly to the + terminal of the 6V lithium battery mounted on the PCB. There is some kind of timing jumper labelled JP1- Timer 20 mins …

Hi all, I am just pricing a job for someone and I need a little advice. The guy wants a very basic, easy to use bells only system installed, just to cover two access doors to the property. I have recomended a mag contact on each door, a simple set fob reader at each door and one external sounder. The only problem is the guy does not want any cables run inside. I will need to get a multi core cable from the controll panel position (inside above front door) to the back door and back in. I may need 12 cores (fob reader, door cont, tamper loop). Can I use black external BT cable ? or is there a problem with the twisted pairs ? The cable run is no more than 15 mts. I will also…

Hello All Couple of questions? Wondering if anyone has had much experience with GSM/SMS modules? I have been looking at the SMS shield in particular and wondering if there is anyone out there with some hands on experience of this or other products like it? I have looked at previous discussions on here dated 2003 and wondered if more light might be able to be shed on this topic particularly from people who have installed this system and might be able to report the 'true pros and cons'. The Castle Wanderer has also been mentioned but based on some of their prices I will probably need to live in a castle to be able to afford it!! However to be fair I dont know the cost of …

Hi all, Great site, lucky I came across it. I currently have a home alarm system installed by British Gas Security in July 2001. It cost £££ and I have been paying £25 a month for a monitored system to alert a call centre if there is an intruder alert of fire. However due to the fact that since Oct 2001 Police require confirmation that a burglary is in progress before answering an alert, I don;t think this service is worth what we are paying. They try to call us and our two key holders first, by which time I reckon our house will have been emptied! So I am wondering about getting a speech dialer to alert us ourselves. British Gas Security want to charge me £125 "up…

I have just had one of these installed in my house but the company has not left the install manual. I also have an ACE KP but they did not leave the key fob!!!! First time I have experienced this. In my last two houses I have had Texacom and ADE installed and the install manuals have been left behind. My point here is I like to have the chime on for the external doors. It appears this cannot be set from the user side (the only option is turn chime on/off but not set for a particular zone). Anyone got the install manual for a Gardtec 800!!!
