Hi all, I recently installed a HKC SW10270 system at home with the Touch keypad. The keypad illuminates when it senses a hand approaching it, as its supposed to. However I am noticing that it intermittently illuminates without anybody being near it. Maybe once per minute. Has anybody ever come across this problem before? Thank you

  2. Hi ive got an Optima G4 with additional LCD keypad sited close by, fitted approx 10 years ago. The mains LED is flashing on the keypad indicating a mains power issue. The power led on the main unit is steady. The error log indicates mains failure every few seconds. All fuses test ok.I can see 240v AC at input and all tests ok. The system runs ok without the battery so mains must be healthy. Battery voltage ok and can see an increase when mains reapplied. Did see a similar report on this site. The battery is main unit is only a few months old. The siren/bell box was changed recently as it went off in middle of night . I diagnosed it as faulty so changed i…

  3. I've wired hundreds of these over the years, but I'm just wondering is there a knack in doing it? Firstly, should I be putting the twisted stranded wires under the screw's head or under the washer beneath the screw head, above the lead to the reed switch? Also two problems I've always had are that the wire squeezes out from under the head when tightening and also the screw head drags the wire core around in a circle, putting excess tension on the wire when it's short. Maybe it's better to take the screws out first, make an eye in the core then tighten? Alternatively I could just use small ring crimps.

  4. Noticed my siren / bell wasn't working so purchased a new battery, replaced it - but in diagnostics Siren (MCS730) still shows 'S1 - not ok' Old battery was flat & replacement showing 3.6v so should be all good. I took MCS730 off the wall & with it right next to the panel - Now diagnostics works fine showing excellent signal strength. But I take it a couple of meters away and we're back to 'S1 - Not ok'. Could this be a battery issue (even though its new) ? (Don't think so as once I remove the cover breaking the tamper it went off just fine) Or are these bell boxes prone to signal strength issues over time? (assuming its not my panels …

  5. Hi all, One of the two bottom screws securing my Pyronix Enforcer control panel snapped, meaning it's currently held together with electrical tape! I've got a replacement backplate to fit, but this obviously means I've got to disconnect everything to fit. Is there any way I can disconnect the Deltabell and stop it from sounding while I swap over the backplate? I think I know the answer, but the Deltabell is up quite high and a pain to get to. Any advice on what is probably a stupid question much appreciated! Thanks, Rob.

Hi, Apologies in advance for my complete lack of knowledge on this subject! We moved into this house 2 years ago. There is an alarm system installed but the former owners told us they never used it and have no idea how it works. They gave us some manuals and documents they also got from the owners before that. I wasn’t interested either so we just left it alone. See attached photo. Until last night, the power and the ready leds were green and the display would just show the date and time. Last night we were woken up by the alarm sounding . I manged to switch it off using that fob-like thing shown in the photo. …

  7. I need to connect these two but the right connections aren't clear (well, not to me anyway !) The 12v and 0v are pretty obvious but does anyone know what the BLA and BLF connections on the sounder relate to on this control box ? Diagrams and photo are attached.

How do I take a texecom wireless WiFi key pad of my wall to decorate.

  9. Hi All, Quick question. I have a friend who has a Galaxy Dimension 520 panel (he has a large property, and wanted multiple data lines due to lots of buildings) who wanted some panic fobs for his elderly parents. I had a look online and found the C079-2 RF Portal was compatible with his panel and that the TCPA1B fobs were also if he was running V3 or newer f/w on the portal. We have updated his panel f/w to v7, and I can see in diagnostics that the RF portal is on V3, but when I try and learn the zone it asks me to activate the tamper, but the fob doesn't have a tamper! Can anyone advise how we can get these working? Thanks i…

  10. I'm trying to install a DSC PC1864 panel with 32 zones in my house as part of a renovation. I'm putting sensors on doors + windows + motion, which is probably overkill, but I'm retired so it's partly about keeping myself occupied. As the entire DSC Power Series is discontinued and out-of-stock, I got one used off eBay with 4 PC5108 zone expander boards (40 zones). (Both alarm panel and RFK5500 keypads have been reset to factory defaults, several times.) The install is progressing (slowly) along with the renovation - I've got 6 zones connected right now, the wire/sensors going in as the contractor tears apart the walls for window replacements and insulation.…

Hi Guys I am trying to resolve a power fault on a Texecom Veritas Excel Alarm. The Power Fault is flashing rapidly (at twice a second?) on control unit and RKP. No Power Loss beeps. Alarm fails to set with 10 x beeps. (Set System With a Power Fault option using ‘omit’ does arm alarm and works OK). All fuses are intact (Internal and Fused Spur) Battery reads 12.6v. Have swapped for new battery but same result. Disconnected battery same flashing status. Pulled mains fuse and ran on battery same flashing status. …

  12. Hi All, I'm a small business (software development) and recently purchased the above unit, as part of a package deal, which included a RKPZ wireless keypad; the plan was to install this system, as a replacement for our (old) existing Scantronic one. All good so far, except one of my team, the guy who started to config the panel, has left and we're none the wiser as to what the installer, master user code, etc, are. He left 'under a cloud' and there's not a snowball's chance in Hell of getting those codes out of him, but, hey! I tried the Eaton support page on the reset of all codes, but no luck there. That page calls for: ##REMOVED## It's at thi…

hey all, normally use 4 x 3/4 screws for the D/c's and just wondering what is the best size drill for these - most of the ones i used to use i think were either 2 or 2.5mm Looking to get a couple of bits for the impact and just use that instead of the combi Thanks

  14. After turning off an electrical circuit to change some smoke alarms, we noticed the bell alarm for the Gardtec 360/580 sounding. I understand that this indicates a dead battery in the control panel. So we bought a new battery and attempted to replace it. I did not turn off the mains power, nor did I remove the fuse. I just opened the panel box, removed the old battery and installed the new one. During this time, the external bell alarm sounded. However the keypad had a black screen and would not accept any user input to silence it. After replacing the lid and putting in the screw, the user keypad stayed black, So I put in the old battery and …

  15. Scantronic 9751 control panel with 9943 keypad. Recently one of the proximity tag has stopped working. keypad just doesn't give any responce to proximity tag. I tried to assign it again to the user by going in to master user mode but keypad just doesn't identify the proximity tag. Proximity tag is grey in colour and was supplied with the system at the time of installation. Can someone advice if that proximity tag is now dead or if it can be reused some how?
