Hi All, Got 2 questions regarding a new Galaxy 500 i've just installed - it's a hugely excessive panel but the customer wanted a Galaxy and it's what I could lay my hands on at the time. 1. This is the first Galaxy i've installed on my own, and i'm not entirely sure eaxctly how the strobe should be wired at the panel - there are 3 terminals on the board for the strobe, one seems to be a normally open, and then what seems to be a normally closed pair. Currently the strobe is running constantly. How should these terminals be wired so the strobe doesn't flash when the system is "normal"? 2. Prox tags - I remember when the //.National Installer.// guy came and added some …

Is it possible to wire a bell box (Flashgaurd in this case) to it's control panel (Accenta G3 in this case) so as, when in engineers mode, it is possible to remove the bellbox cover without causing a tamper activation and thus causing significant discomfort to ones self? i have read several posts on the subject which appear to fuel only engineer rivalry. Please, is there a standard way of accomplishing such a thing. I used to fit alarm systems for a small business in Accrington for several years and my then boss (alarm guru!) never taught me how to do such a thing if indeed it be possible? I have just fitted a new super-duper system to my new house which is now live but …

I have a Veritas 8 alarm panel which now has a couple of unused zones. I want to set one of these zones up to work the door chime when the system is unset but not for this zone to be alarmed in any way in either in full or part when the system is set . I installed and programmed this alarm myself a few years ago [before I retired as an electrical engineer] I have the installation manual giving the various codes to program the zones, but it makes no mention of what to do to omit zones in full or part guard whilst programming. The only reference to omitting zones is in the User Guide Summary where you enter the code, press Full or Part, press Omit, press required zone n…

Another Texecom setup question, sorry. So, everything installed and working really very well. All detectors working. Now, I've just setup all the area's I need with Area Arm Suites, and that all works really very well. The problem now, is that none of the fire zones cause a fire alarm. The zones go active when you test the detector, but the panel does not recognise it as a fire. From what I gather, a zone set as Fire, will cause a fire alarm regardless of whether the area is armed or not. It looks to be a problem with how the panel handles areas, as if I put everything back to a single area, then it's fine. I thought that the fire detectors didnt really need an ar…

Hi there I have the above system with 1 additional keypad, 4 PIR's and door entry contacts Works fine but am in the process of doing up the house and the Missus has spoken! She wants the system moved about 2 feet (so its in the fuse cupboard), a nice looking(!) new, discreet keypad to operate it and another keypad upstairs) The exisitng PIR's would be left-the system is about 15 years old I contacted Scantronic who 'sensed' I was a normal houseowner about the above and they were unhelpful I think the current system will not take upgraded keypads (but would appreciate someone confirming this) so will have to upgrade the panel+pads. I understand Scantronic are not a …

Humble apologies if this thread is in the wrong place - perhaps a passing mod could move it... Probably will sound a bit suss will this but... I have a friend who's asked for my help with his security alarm. One of the dangers of knowing about computers - get asked to fix anything that beeps and has flashing lights He's inherited the security alarm. Unbelievably, neither his landlord or the letting agent know the code. The previous tenant knows the code and the last time the alarm sounded (caused by a power cut), it was (I'm told) a mad dash to her house to obtain the code. It was a mercy that a neighbour knew where she lived. Same neighbour who was woken up. Unfortu…

Hi, I already have a Accenta G3 system with 3 pirs, a magnetic front door intruder detector and a vibration sensor on the back patio doors. The whole house is well covered and it was done by a competent engineer and I've had no problems since it was installed 3 years ago. The battery was replaced about 3 months ago. I've recently had a conservatory built and would like to move the pir sensor from the kitchen into the conervatory, as it's a bit pointless being in the kitchen now, as the conservatory will be the 1st point of entry and not the kitchen. So my question is how to move/replace this pir; I'm guessing that I'll have to disconnect the kitchen pir from the panel a…

Hi there. There is a Wickes burglar alarm system in my house that was installed by the previous owner. There are 4 windows I want to get double glazed but they have magnetic contacts on them that are connected to the alarm system. I don't want to spoil the look of the nice new windows, so I would like to just get these disconnected - I don't think this will be a great security risk, as the windows are upstairs and if an intruder did gain entry through them there are PIR's that would set the alarm off. There is also a Personal Attack (PA) button in the spare room with cables hanging across and down the wall - it's a real mess - since moving in I've discovered that the guy…
