  1. So today I managed to work out the puzzle of opening one. I am converting it to 24vDC ordered a 24v heat element, the existing fan seems to work on 24v Ill let you know if Ive saved £600 (parts inc psu cost about £25)
  2. what 3 words to help the sat nav
  3. And the smaller wireless panel comes with WiFi as standard in a kit
  4. Never heard of Serage so your probably right
  5. Im fairly certain Hik does play back more than 1 camera, when in playback just add more cameras Dahua definately does do it I have just tried it.
  6. if its a high pitched beep check your smoke detector batteries alos check the drawers and cupboards for one that was taken down and forgotten about. Oh and as SWB says get the alarm serviced before its too late !
  7. There is normally only one sensor in a quad, but its broken down into elements, its the number of elements that trigger the sensor. Dual tech are two sensors, normally microwave/pir but these are built for more hostile environments where the ir may be fooled into a false positive.
  8. Kids of today! Blooming amateurs! Running cables while the floor is up is easy, hard wired is better than wireless for 101 reasons. Not that wireless doesnt have its place, if you had a flat or your renting, or its impossible to get a wire to where its needed wireless is fine. But in your case it sounds like whoever you got to quote is either lazy or stupid and you dont want either of those combinations installing stuff in your house
  9. I dont think Ive come across an app that cant do that? Dahua and Hik does it?
  10. Hi most of us nerds started life taking things apart too
  11. Depends on the DVR some wont see other brands but they should all see Onvif. Most cams are sending out Onvif but I wouldnt know if the Hik doorbell does
  12. I hate Hik too but if you can set the protocol to onvif on the Dbell then your DVR should find it
  13. Hi and Welcome It sounds like you need to get someone to look at it, I would recommend an alarm company rather than an electrician. If you dont use it you should get them to decommission it, alarms are designed in such a way that they are difficult to circumvent, and when they are not serviced this can have side effects like the one you experienced last night. The external sounder has a battery and can sound regardless of any connection to the control panel. The panel also has a battery with a 4 year life expectancy, if this has failed it will start to pull on the charging circuit, in some extreme circumstances could cause a fire. My advice would be to search for a local company and get a few quotes to decommission it or to recomission it and provide a maintenance contract.
  14. Could be induction but that would normally be if the cables are run next to the mains, and Im not sure that the dyson would cause enough noise. Does the ESP have separate tamper connections, can you see it via a browser or software? It may be a case of dissing things till you find whats tampering thats the problem with global tampers
  15. Texecom is a well known brand, I dont use it so cant comment on how good or bad it is as a product. But plenty of companies do use it so it probably is alright. I think you are right not to choose the cheapest. I always recommend people get three quotes and choose the company you are most happy with not the cheapest
  16. I think the enter button will take you out of walk test, 99 enter takes you out of engineering
  17. My jobs were very neat mate, but Ive seen loads of cabs like that one
  18. Bit like asking how long is a piece of string, in order to answer your question the essential information required is what system do you have?
  19. I always liked visiting the nurses accommodation, sadly they knocked it all down to extend the hospital. They dont seem to have student nurse accommodation buildings anymore, theyre all bunched in with the uni accommodation, which we also look after a few of these buildings but theyre not the same.
  20. One of the NHS student nurses accommodation buildings we look after had their microwave stolen several times, they asked us if there was anything we could do to prevent it. Our locksmith fitted a Kensington style lock and it was chained to the wall, the thieves came back couldnt steal it so took a dump on the base plate and and left the microwave running on full power, stunk the kitchen out for days.
  21. The cost of upkeep outweighs the horror of someone rooting through your wifes knicker draw, and finding a dump in your microwave
  22. All the prices quoted are cheap IMO, as others have said though if your not using it then ask for a price to decommission it rather than one to fix it for another 5 years. Personally I wont leave my house without arming the alarm, and wouldnt be without one
  23. Hi Emma Welcome to the forum. So what do you do ? Are you an engineer?
  24. We have no interest in veripoor , we already know the rubbish they install is easily comprised tat. Any pro would just rip it out and fit a proper system no compromise
