  1. Yeah but I feel constantly shafted Efficacy and Liability October, Fleet January, office buildings and contents February, Home insurance March, Personal vehicle insurance June. Then there is all the travel insurance when I go either on Holiday or to China on business. Ive not made a claim in years and years full ncb on the car never made a home claim, the fleet insurance is probably the only thing Ive had to claim on in the last 10 years.
  2. Infra red radiation is anything that sends out heat - basically has a temperature above around five degrees Kelvin - gives off infrared radiation. Therefore passive infra detector is looking for heat changes, but it is also looking for motion.
  3. DSC is no longer sold in the UK not many people here would know that panel unfortunately
  4. Cut and past the same stuff twice. Infra red is the detection method not what the detector is looking for, infra red detector detects heat or infra red radiation. Its unlikely that anyone can cover themselves up enough not to give off any heat at all . The ambient temp of the room versus the temp of the person. Even if the person was wearing a foil suit and giving off no heat (unlikely) he would be interrupting heat sources in the room. I would be looking a bit closer, what happens when you set the alarm and then walk in front of detectors? Nothing of what you have said makes any sense its almost as if your making excuses for the poor performance of your design
  5. What do you mean by we? QFA
  6. It doesnt explain why the Police were called in the first place, however, agreed it could be a plausible explanation
  7. Sounds a bit fishy, either someone walk tested the system and found blind spots, or the system was unset and the CCTV times have been adjusted to make it look like it was out of hours. The log logs when its armed and when its not Id be getting a print off and checking the CCTV very closely to make sure that the clocks are all correct. The only times Ive seen anything like it always turned out to be an inside job.
  8. Hi Niki You would probably need to get your installer to set this up for you
  9. Still better than a verisure system though
  10. You have either pulled a wire out or not closed the tamper switch on the lid properly
  11. I get this all the time, cutomers save a few quid buying their own cheaper than we can buy for. But we have to buy from a proper source, and usually if something is a lot cheaper then its for a reason. We buy batteries direct we know where they come from they are genuine and we turnover batteries very quickly so they have not been sitting around for six months. Buying from Amazon Ebay or even the bigger warehouses like B&Q you have no idea how long they have been sitting on the shelf, if the staff have recirculation the shelf. People do not realise batteries have a shelf life and that there are plenty of fake batteries out there too
  12. Agreed with James, I too dont know ion stuff but assuming its two way wireless and lithium batteries you should get 18 months minimum. Are you able to adjust the rf poling? its the only thing that could be draining the battery, but in that case I would expect them all to be coming up low battery
  13. you havent wired the bedroom pir up correctly if you have a tamper fault
  14. As above, its not in the user programing settings
  15. Hi and welcome, CCTV has come a long way in the last few years you can get systems with trip wires and intrusion boxes, when set up correctly the camera will only inform you if a human, or a vehicle, or both humans or vehicles enter the intrusion box or cross the tripwire. To be clear it can be set up as either singular or both. Some systems can go much further than this you can have a system set up to alert you if anyone with a red jumper enters the site if you needed to.
  16. If your recorder has it you can also arm/disarm remote viewing from an input like say your intruder alarm, this would be overridden if a 24hr device activated like PA. This way the ARC only have access when the system is armed you can automate the arming using an output on the intruder so when set or part set the CCTV is armed when the intruder system is disarmed so is the CCTV
  17. If you need it monitored with Police response then it has to be installed by a accredited installer Put your postcode in here https://www.nsi.org.uk/company-finder/
  18. My controller and reader will do that, gimme a call Monday
  19. No Im suggesting you put your postcode in on the sites "search for company in your area" and contact the companies close to you.
  20. I have locked readers and fobs, they are wiegand so should work with paxton controllers alternately I have a stand alone controller the cost would be about £200.00 for controller and reader and the fobs are £4.00 ea as I have to program them specially
  21. There is a shortage of good engineers in the UK you should have no trouble finding something. As above the NSI and SSAIB websites are a good place to start
  22. Costly mistake spending a load of money on DIYing G3 stuff only to be told by the installer that they wont take it on.
