  1. Why dont you use letters instead of numbers graphics would be too hard to remember.
  2. We are a as busy as an asian kiddy in a Nike factory
  3. China is already cheaper because the labour is cheaper than in the UK. I dont think it is the buyers so much I think its because there are so many Chinese companies competing for the same work this is what drives the price down. I used to get emails daily from China with cameras for $5 -$10 etc. So to the inexperienced person would think the average price of a basic camera in China is $7.50. Many distributors here sell a camera that looks exactly the same at £40.00. Its not until you buy some sample from China you discover they are far from the same. Many sellers offer stuff at cheap prices because they are trying to get your attention, what they dont understand is getting your attention is not the end game, if you want to be successful you need to have a constant flow to regular customers. Producing a quality product at a reasonable price (Still cheaper than you can buy in the UK) is the way to make it, this way you keep your customer happy. I have a great relationship with my CCTV supplier and my fob supplier, they know that I want quality and I dont mind paying more for it. For example because I am based close to the sea cameras I have purchased from UK distributors have corroded very quickly. But the cameras I buy direct do not, because I pay extra to have all my cameras Ausbonded, I dont mind paying more because the camera still looks good two or three years after its been installed, and because the internals are Ausbonded it will probably not fail quite as soon as the cameras that are not. China is not the only country that produces rubbish, but it is probably the worst for it, I visited some factories still producing rubbish while I was there asked why, the answer was because we are selling it, when I asked who to it was eastern Europe countries like Poland Ukraine
  4. The problem is not with the customer its with the seller, whats the point in making kit that is only going to last five minutes, or is poor and cheap quality? I think the Chinese culture is a bit strange, there are lots of places selling shanzhai mostly for export, but many Chinese are buying real quality designer products from the west. Finding a Chinese co that understands that quality is better than cheap or designer/popular look, is far harder than it should be. China can produce quality, the Metro is the envy of the world, far better than our tube, Hikvision is great kit for the money, Dahua the same, Huawei and Oppo phones, just to name a few. I dont understand why so many Chinese co's think its fine to produce stuff that looks okay but doesnt work. Im listening Steve LOL
  5. I have looked at Chinese Access control, it is not so user friendly as other products found, the software is basic. We have imported some stand alone keypads and biometric readers, push to exit buttons, green callpoints, they work but are not fantastic. It would be good to have a NVM that could be swapped with the standalone keypads, when they go wrong it is a pain to get all the fobs back and reprogram them to the new keypad. Chinese stuff is much better than it used to be, I visited Shenzhen a couple of times last year found some reliable companies and specified my requirements for CCTV, some access, and proximity fobs, so now I get good stuff. Its an amazing place but the difference in quality between one product and another that look exactly the same on paper and physically is enormous, if China only made the good stuff rather than making **** and good stuff that looks the same more people would buy. That said its better for me if they dont, as I have an advantage over my competition.
  6. We have got all ours through work experience, they come for a week from school and if theyre any good we ask them to apply when 16. I have friend (well I say friend I mean that in the loosest of terms) who advertises for apprentices on Facebook. Who knows if it works, I try not to communicate with him too much.
  7. What I meant was they got milk with their cornflakes, and beans with their toast
  8. I would start off subbying thats what most do, dont try and under cut the hand that feeds you. Its hard work be prepared to live on cornflakes and toast in order to pay your mortgage thats what I had to do (Though my kids never went without)
  9. Sounds like there are zones on test possibly due to a fault or just false alarms call the installer he should be able to help
  10. Make sure you set the timer just long enough for the mother in law to get only half way up
  11. The smart phone app is designed to set unset the alarm when you are not there (remotely), so the panel is not waiting for you to open and shut the door before it arms. When you set the alarm from the keypad the panel knows you are there and is waiting for you to go out so it wants to see the door open and close again, if the contact is not opening when you open the door it wont know you have gone out so it will continue to give exit tone. But dont just take my word for it, go on keep asking these numpties questions LOL!
  12. I know the copper with the speed camera wont be there but it would give you an idea of the road and likely speed limit ?
  13. damp in the contact it will get worse over time, if it was positioned wrongly or anything else it would be open circuit all the time
  14. Slamming the door causes the glass tube to break or crack then the damp gets on the contact and they stick together The only way to fix it is to replace the door contact
  15. Yeah yeah, well I have invented a paint that will put everyone out of work, the householder just paints a cross outside their front door and the burglar will go next door, I just need to get it approved by insurance companies and Im off to somewhere warm to have boobies rubbed in my face all day long.
  16. The fact that you didnt even see the camera makes it worse IMO, ffs dont tell them that they'le have you for not taking due care as well! Ive been caught by the Gatso when they first came out but I know where all the local ones are now. I have always noticed the mobile ones, but I have not always been speeding when Ive spotted them anyway. I hate the ones on the M25 especially when they are fooking around with the speed limits and there is no reason for it.
  17. Hi Antonio Well, there are three differentials in the UK, there is the diy market, the non approved market, and the approved market. Monitored systems in the UK that call the Police must be installed by the approved market and there are two inspectorates that can provide approval http://www.nsi.org.uk National security inspectorate and https://ssaib.org Something Security and inspectorate board. Both sites have a list of companies that they provide approval for. It would be quite hard to nail down exactly how many non approved companies are out there I know of several in my town that have come and gone over the years. DIY well there is a strong market for DIY we daily get requests for help from people doing DIY on their alarms. Most approved companies can do the majority of your list we certainly can, sadly there is not that much call for some of it
