  1. Battery is two years past its sell by date needs to be replaced. Tamper could be battery, bell or any one of the circuits
  2. What lights are on the display when it happens?
  3. You wont find one, least not a good one. You need to find an installer clever enough and willing enough to do it for you, if you were closer we would do it we love doing the out of the ordinary.
  4. Bonus dayos
  5. The HKC app and the Risco app can be programmed to work wireless outputs, the can be named on the app ie lights, garage door, curtians, ect then from the app on your phone you can control the outputs. I already had Lightwave RF home automation kit in my house, so I wired the outputs into a preprogrammed remote control. Now my lights come on when I open the door and switch off shortly after I disarm the alarm, I can control the lights, curtians, and heating from either app lightwave or HKC. Potentially all systems with apps can do this. Your panel is a Castle Meridian as others have already mentioned
  6. Both of the systems proposed by Blitz are wireless, which is bizarre considering you have a wired system and all the wiring already in place. There are Honeywell installers here, I havent installed Honeywell for some time now so am not familiar with any of the latest products. I am familiar with the Risco App and it is good, and of course as previously mentioned the HKC app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hkc.winterfell&hl=enTexecom also have an app as do Pyronix. If you post a pic here we will identify your panel for you
  7. Sounds like you purchased a 2.1Ah or 2.3Ah this will fit but may not last the full 12 hours, ideally you should use the same size battery as fitted as the engineer would have measured the current consumption and worked out the correct battery for the job. The other thing you may find if the battery has been faulty for some time the charging circuit may not charge the battery properly, you wont know this straight away, but in a few months its worth checking that the battery is still working. If it isnt you need to replace control panel and the battery.
  8. The internal battery has failed, it shouldnt go off when the power is switched off for at least twelve hours
  9. Also change the zone its wired into just to eliminate the panel.
  10. Ive seen that desk and sofa somewhere before?
  11. You mean ones floating on the other?
  12. You are welcome, if you nee any further advice dont hesitate to ask, and dont forget to come back and let us know how you got on
  13. I thought there was a reason James used CEO over MD, I just didnt want to appear stupid by asking what that reason was. Now I see that you also dont see any particular reason, I dont feel so stupid for asking.
  14. Thats his real title norm, Chief Execs are allowed in the UK as well as the US
  15. Ltd here, it is a safer way to trade it stops anyone coming after your house should it all go toots up. I know you think it will never happen to you, but I have had electrical contractors go bust on me owing up-to £6k at a time before now. I would not have survived if that had happened in the first two or three years, there were months when I wasnt paid just so I could pay wages and suppliers, if I lost even £2k I would have been in trouble, at that time, not even my cc would have covered it.
  16. You probably didnt mean to come across this way, but I though the above comment was a bit rude James, Andy gives up his time FOC here I think we should be grateful for what we get. I agree it is important but his part is to tell us there is a problem, not necessarily give us all the answers as well.
  17. Really good detectors those, never false alarm. The click can be quietened by adding some foam in the detector, but you will need to change them if you want to lose the click completely. You could try Blitz they are in your direction but I do not know if they cover Essex, but a very good company that will go that extra mile http://blitzsecurity.co.uk/ Or you could call HKC and ask them to recommend an installer 01706-373 560
  18. Hi and welcome The security industry was a bit slow to jump on the band wagon with apps and the like, but it has more or less caught up most of the main manufacturers now have apps. There is a signalling manufacturer developing an app that will work with any panel. Banhams are a NSI Gold semi national company which should mean your alarm has been installed to reasonable standard. If you really want a smart house with a bit of home automation then upgrading the panel using the existing wiring and detection would be the way to go. I would recommend the HKC app its slightly more expensive than the cheaper panels, but in comparison you do get what you pay for. Ive wired my panel into my lightwave RF system so can switch lights on and of from the same app rather than using two.

  20. You would think so, and it did cross my mind, but I wouldnt dare send him there they are good customers, their average spend is £10k - £20k pa I saw it as cheaper to get rid of him legally
