OPTIMA XL6 - Tamper Fault

Featured Replies

Hi

My alarm system in the Optima XL6 version, which no doubt is some years old now, but TBH it has been reliable.

Anyway over the last week, I have been experiencing intermittent alarm conditions with the TAMPER FAULT part of the system.

I first noticed the issue, when I accidentally knocked one of the PIR on Zone 3 during removal of wall paper, which sounded an alarm cndition in the same mode.

Having stopped the internal siren, the keypad locked out but eventually reset itself.

Ever since then, the same fault activates whenever it seems to take its fancy at all times of the day and night without anyone touching the PIR's etc...

The final straw was 4am this morning, so your guidance would be appreciated...

Any idea's on what the problem may be...

I've looked at this topic, which although similar doesn't quite fit into the same circumstances

Thanks

Have a good look at the pir that you disturbed , is the cover on correctly , it is easy to disturb the cover so as the small tamper switch inside does not click. Was the wiring damaged? if so get an engineer out to check the resistance.(have it serviced at the same time , new battery etc.)

Thanks FASTCAR..

Yep had a look at the wiring and everything seems intact.... The cover is also on tightly, so I'm guessing the PIR may be faulty or the system has developed a fault somewhere along the way...

So as per your last words of advice, I now have a qualified engineer coming to look at it... Better safe than sorry....

No problems with it until I caught the PIR.... Hey ho, down to me that one..
