I was wondering if you could help. A friend of mine lives in Manchester and has just bought a house which has an //.National Installer.// alarm, Galaxy 8+. Apparently it was installed by the previous owner who got it from a friend!! My friend is interested in having it monitored but would rather not go with //.National Installer.//. He has tried a few local companies but all have said they would have to replace the panel with one of theirs. Is this true or are they just after money? Thanks, Carl

Unfortunately my partner entered our house through the patio doors yesterday whilst the alarm was active. Although our pin no. de-activated the alarm we are now getting a message on the control panel that says '2335 Call Engineer'. Apparently this means that I need to have the system reset by an engineer, but I know that the system isn't faulty at all and just needs a code to reset it. Does anybody know if there is a standard code to reset the alram under this circumstance? It seems crazy to incur a call-out cost just to have a new code entered. Many thanks Glen

Hi Everyone, Like many others I have inherited a Veritas 8C panel, without instructions etc, when we bought the house two weeks ago. We managed to obtain the code from the previous occupants when my two-year-old son hit the panic button! I want to disarm this feature but when I enter the code, one of the zone LED's lights up and pressing "prog" just results in what I assume is a fault tone. ONe of the PIR detectors appears to be faulty (no red light on). Any suggestions as to how I can: 1) get past this fault to program new codes/zones etc 2) disarm the panic button COl

Hi I just installed a new panel after my old R8 took a lightning strike. Should I set the system so that the new codes are non volatile? Andy

I am currently installing a Sterling 10 alarm. After following all instructions of the panel and compents, I still have a problem when powering up. The RKP shows STERLING ALARMED and after a short period the internal and external sirens activate when the power is applied. I have tested tamper circuit, which is fine. Can anyone help? Thanks Simon

If anyone could help me by identifying the manufacturer of this panel, i would be much obliged. It is called an "Equaliser 3" and was installed around 1987. If anyway could locate an engineers manual it would be very helpful There is a logo on the bottom right hand corner, but i dont recognise it. It was installed by a local company BBT security if that helps. Not sure if they still exist Thanks Gary

Hi Guys - some advice please. I currently have an //.National Installer.// monitored alarm (Scantronics 705 wireless - installed originally by Telecom Security). I am replacing the system with a Powermax which I have all configured and set up on the bench ready to install. My problem - whats the best way to deinstall the Scantronics without upsetting the neigbours? My main concern is silencing the external sounder once I remove the cover and have disconnected the hold off circuit. I would like to think it would be as simple as disconnecting the battery in the bell box but I suspect its probably not that straight forward? Any advice and hints greatfully received. tha…

Hi Guys, I've just installed my first system(Hurrah ) at home consisting of a Nexus 8 and a whole bunch of mag contacts and Focus PIRs. The instructions with the system are quite good but assume that you are an engineer with years of experience!!! (I'm an Electronics Engineer so know my way around a DVM etc. ) What I'm after is some advice on the commisioning of the system, I've powered up the system, configured the zones and performed a 'walk test' throughout the house and all of the sensors appear to be working and I don't have any fault codes on the panel. Do you guys have any recommendations on commissioning tips? Do I need to 'soak test' the system? and if s…

I am not so much looking for an intruder alert system, more a HELP alert system. I have had a quick look around the web and came across this site so I would expect as its a busy forum you guys will be up with the latest technology and prices. Initially Needing autodial control panel that will alert a selection of numbers if a Pendant type alert switch is actioned. Basically its for my Mums house , shes pushing 70 and its mainly for peace of mind , thankfully everything has been fine so far ............... Ideally providing a remote form of alerting the family should God forbid something happen and she cant make it to the phone. Ok I think there was a power max system…
