Hi wonder if anyone can help me out with a manual for an optima XM6. I have just purchased a new house and did not get the manual. everything works OK except i need to reset the timers as the thing keeps going off before i can unset it when i come home. Anyone can give instructions on this and i will be very happy. I am a computer network engineer and will help any members with IT related issues as a means of saying thanks.

Hi, I wonder if anyone could offer some advice to a diyer . Successfully fitted an A1 AJ600N ages (years) ago and everything was fine. The odd '24' (tamper) false alarm, but nothing major. These got more frequent, and after much testing and fault finding, I'm back at the panel bridging the '24' with a wire link. But I still get intermittant 24s - so, I don't know if its the panel or the sounder (sometimes just the panel goes off, sometimes the sounder too). I'm thinking of replacing the panel with a Veritas 8 (or 8 compact) - as I could do with an extra zone, plus the option of a remote keypad, plus if the AJ400N panel is causing the problem, this'l solve it. But…

i have just installeda sterling 10 lcd panel everything seems ok exept that when i try tochange text user names and zone descriptions it will only accept 7 characters although in the manual saysit will display up to sixteen has anyone had this problem or know what may be the problem

I have recently self installed a security system based on the Sterling 10 control panel and RKP from Pyronix. I am having problems setting it up. Some features are fine but when I try to carry out a walk test the RKP seems to freeze on me. Also I am unable to set the system. The control panel is the transistor version. Any advice your members can offer would be much appreciated.

I would like to know if anyone tell me who provides 12v Heat detectors, I have had no problem locating 12v smoke detectors ( like the Menvier which includes remote power reset, but unable to find 12v Heat detectors). Finally, is there a preferred Panel which would provide the following: 1, More that 10+ zones with future expansion 2, seperate main panel with remote set/unset panel 3, E/E zone to chime 4, The fire zone to be groupable ( ie 4 different fire detectors on different zones providing 24hrs 7 days monitoring) plus 4 PIR's and 1 PA. 5 Not to complicated, have run in cables already just require the panel !!! After a reasonably priced wireless intruder systems any ideas?

Hi I've just moved into my new house and we have a Challenger V111 control panel alarm system fitted. The previous tenants claim they've never known the code. I've tried the default 1234 to no avail. Is there a way I can reset the system back to factory settings or will I need to bite the bullet and call out the installer. Any help is much appreciated on this matter.

hi, i have just had a 9448+ system installed as a replacement for my old alarm system, where the engineer replaced the main box, keypad and siren. There is now a major problem where the alarm is triggered when the syetem is not even set. I.e: we are all in the house, and all of a sudden the alarm will go off! When the guy installed the keypad, he had to drill through the wall, and when doing this he drilled through a mains cable and nearly electricuted himself (idiot!!). Not sure if this could have something to do with it. Since then he has come back and replaced the keypad and the main box, but its still happening. can anyone help? thanx jag.

I have a veritas 8 alarm system in my home and would like to know how to reset the pin on it as it is still the same as the previous owners had left it, not only that my wife and I keep forgetting the pin number.

What do you all think of the Response 5000s it is wireless and has a solar powered bell box . It also comes with a speech dialler , seems very easy to fit . Is it a worry about signal jamming with these model s

I was recently attacked by a group of youths armed with large belt buckles and tree stumps. I suffered quite severe injuries and am now doing all i can to see these little s***s put away. I do however face the wrath of the rest of the family who are reported to be equally violent. To say i fear for the health of my family is an understatement. Hello, I've a Scantronic 9800 which was until recently connected to two separate alarm boxes containing sirens connected in parallel and microswitch tampers connected in series. This all worked fine. I've now replaced the above alarm boxes with two new SAB units but can't figure out how to wire the tamper circuits. On the old system the tamper circuit was simply a wire from the 0v connection on the control panel, passing in series through the two microswitches ( one in each alarm box) and back to the TR connection on the contol panel. The new SAB units have negative hold off supply and a tamper return connections but if I connect these in series to the 0v and TR conn…
