  1. Started by ARJ,

Have many of you started using the new smaller Scantronic 9940 Keypads (the small square ones with the ABCD accross the top)? http://www.coopersecurity.co.uk/default.aspx?page=9940 We've fitted 4 of them now and 3 have been faulty. I thought it must be us, but all tests prove that the problems move with the keypads and dont stay with the panel/installation (. I spoke to another local Installer today, who confirmed he'd noticed the same problems, but the customer had not complained and they'd 'got away with it'. We've found that the LCD display is very slow to change and sort of fades in rather than having a quick prominent display refresh. (Also, varying contra…

Just back from a call out for a Signet I installed on Friday. Arrived on site to see the panel had froze and the keypad displaying the serial number and all the leds flashing. The customer said this happened when he started switching lights on and off in quick succession and also together. I had connected the panel to a fused spur that was left by the electrician. Upon further inspection I noticed that it was taken off the lighting circuit. I soft reset the panel and everything was fine, started playing with the 3 gang light switch and you guessed it the panel froze. There was no space in the fuseboard for a mcb so I changed it over to the socket circuit. Hopefully this…

Just took over the system and the engineer code is locked customer wants to keep panel. We don't fit these panels so don't have remote software. Any help would be great guys Thanks

  5. Started by Gopher,

I had a thought with all the "my panel is better than your panel" type debate which Im not gonna get involved in btw. One thing I did notice was it would be handy for customer and professional alike if there was a comparison guide like you get on sites like PC world etc you know the type I mean, like pc's are overall speed, upgradablility. So I thought why not do something like that where you have say, alarm panel, number of zone on-board, exandability, number of keypads fitable, Grading (i know this is a possible "grey" area), DIY compentancy level (1- being really easy to fit i.e. if they can follow the instructions) to say 10- being have to be real competant / calling…

Hi all, please excuse my ignorance but am still green(ish) on certain things, whats the difference between a F3A250V fuse and a T125maL250V fuse apart from the obvious ampage. Does the F stand for fast blow? What does the T and L mean? :'(

As most of you know this panel is a bag of spanners. Had the misfortune to work on one yesterday. I have pretty much got them sussed but had a strange one yesterday. Programmed up the panels internal digi with account and two receiver numbers. When sending PA signals they are coming up as a test signal at CS. Not very clever for a 24 hour garage The PA circuit is programmed as circuit type 57 with event flag 21. Then decided to give up, it was nearly 6pm, and fit the existing standalone dialler I ripped out. This worked OK and the PA signals got through. BUT then the panel decided to go into fail to communicate. Removed all digi phone numbers and accounts but no mat…

Quick question guys! In the Zone menus under the Attributes option (Option 52) where you set up what zones are to be excluded in part sets/chime enabled etc, there are two further options after Chime: Sec and Per. I've read the manual and in typical Gardtec fashion, there is absolutely no mention of what either of these do. I'd chance a guess at Secondary and Perimeter but I still don't know what they do. Anyone shed any light on the matter?

  11. I cut power and tried to open my home intruder alarm panel today to use my ACT tester on the battery and check it's date I assumed my code would silence it when it went into tamper . I can't find a manufacturers name only the model number 9448 on the keypad. Can anybody help me get into it without it going off? I only do fire so my abilities are obvoiusly limited to less than DIY level Chris.

  12. Started by Service Engineer,

Got called to a Menvier 690 ID panel today after it sending out "int-confirmed and pa" signals before the premises opened up this morning.? The panel log showed all zones 1 to 12 activating and going tamper all at the same time..? On arriving at site, the panel log showed it had found ALL it's lost zones a few minutes after loosing them, after completion of an ON-SITE RESTART.? And since that restart there had been no further faults at all. Excepting the rkp making a clicking noise every several seconds at perfectly spaced intervals (possibly an ID pulse.?). I wish i'd took a piccy of the panel wiring to show the state it was in, but after inspection I came to the …
